Its the tensioner knob turn it a little bit till the stitch is back to the way its suppose\ed to be, don't turn the knob a lot ust a hair a little AT a time try the stitch each time you turn it to see if the stich is tight again. The knob has numbers on it you have to d this in straight stich setting

oil the machine first. Then, determine whether or not you need any parts at all.

The needle may be threaded from the wrong side. Newer models thread from front to back of the machine, older models will thread from right to left, It is usually determined by the positions of the needle eye. rethread the top, if this does not correct the problem thne rethread the bobbin, use the instr manual to make sure it is correct.

Remove the bobbin from the machine and thoroughly clean any thread/lint from inside. Also, clean around the feed dogs. Check that the bobbin is wound smoothly and no threads are hanging out anywhere. Rethread the bobbin into the machine.
Install a brand new needle.
AVOID old or bargain bin thread.
Remove the top thread from the machine. ALWAYS RAISE the presser foot and rethread from the beginning. Verify the thread path is correct. Set the top tension at the midway point.
Re-test your machine.
If it continues misbehaving, it probably needs service.
