Periods.......Nice little items because they denote the End of a sentence.
See how this works?

"I have a vgn cs36gj, I was working with it, suddenly the LCD became pale black, I connected it to external monitor and it has a picture, sometimes after turning on for 30 minutes LCD start working normally, but after turning off and disconnecting power when I turn it on, it only shows a pale black picture, you know it is on but only black!"

Now you try it.........

"I have a vgn cs36gj. I was working with it, suddenly the LCD became pale black.
I connected it to external monitor and it has a picture."

Okay, I got that part.........

"sometimes after turning on for 30 minutes LCD start working normally, but after turning off and disconnecting power when I turn it on, it only shows a pale black picture, you know it is on but only black!"

WHICH LCD?
Laptop LCD?
External monitor LCD?
Man on the moon LCD?

1) If the external monitor LCD goes 'pale black', the problem is the graphics chipset.
This I do not believe

2) If the laptop LCD goes pale black, this I believe.

Post back in a Comment.

SOURCE: LCD laptop screen

It is definitely the screen or the inverter. Usually the screen and inverter come as one piece. I would check with the manufacturer. Unfortunately for you, the LCD is one of the most expensive parts to replace on a laptop.

Just the simple fact of you mentioning that it works fine with an external monitor tells me that its not the video card. If it was the video card, you would see the exact same thing happening on your external monitor as well.

Hope this helps!

SOURCE: DELL inspiron 6400 laptop screen turned black

this sounds like a classic case of inverter problems, it could be just inverter coil thats gone which is an inexpensive repair, if it is the inverter then its a bit more.
try the Fn the F key that shows two tv screen icons, it may just have switched to external mode by accident

good luck

SOURCE: monitor screen stays black even though it's on

Remove the memory from your unit - power it up it should beep if full communication is still happening across your m/board. No beeps you board has died. if it beeps and your using two diffent memory modules just fitt one leave the battery out and power it up = if no display pull power swap out the memory and try again. if display occurrs you have a defective memory module - throw that failed unit away

Sony vaio laptop half screen black on the right

Sony Vaio is one of the most prominent brands of laptops on the market, and also one of the most expensive. The laptops, created by Sony, are known for their efficient processor functionality and sleek designs. While the Sony Vaio line of laptops are considered high-end, they are also prone to display problems.

Symptoms
Among the problems facing Sony Vaio laptop screens are blackouts. When these blackouts occur, the monitor turns solid black, and upon rebooting the laptop, light will briefly flash on only to blackout again. Additionally, there have been reports of an issue which causes the screen to flicker intermittently until it goes out all together. b> Troubleshooting b> Blackout displays and the continuous flickering of Sony Vaio screens can be caused by various issues taking place inside the laptop. It is not necessarily true that the problem lies within the LCD screen itself, with display issues often occurring as a result of problems with other parts of the laptop. You can test whether or not the screen is defective by connecting the laptop to an external monitor. If the display comes up normally, then the problem lies within the laptop's LCD screen. b> Parts b> If your Sony Vaio is connected to an external monitor and suddenly goes black, then the problem may have to do with the laptop's sleep button. The sleep button latch located inside the device may be jammed or broken, thus putting the screen in a permanent sleep mode until the latch is fixed. Encountering hissing sounds when the laptop is running indicates a faulty circuit board, usually damaged due to overheating. Display issues can also occur when certain parts of the laptop, such as the hard drive, have been replaced. b> Design b> Some owners have made complaints about Sony Vaio design flaws, specifically mentioning defects in the laptop's boards. Among the problems discovered after opening the laptop include burnt LCD fuses, as well as worn out circuits and internal latches. Some of these events may occur even in newly purchased units. Sony has not yet responded to various consumer complaints and has not yet issued any recalls in response to reported problems. b> Repair b> When repairing a defective Sony Vaio laptop screen, it is important that owners remain aware of the nine screws which hold the laptop cover and the board together. Not doing so can easily lead to further damage to the Vaio due to static electricity, and may even lead to a short circuit. For owners who are experienced in the area of laptop repair, parts are readily available for purchase, allowing for cost efficient repair. b> Extended desktop You will need to connect to another monitor or your television to your computer with the vga lead monitor connection. Click start control panel display change display settings adjust resolution this may vary depending on your operating system You should see a no 1 and a no 2 with detect and identify keep an eye on the screen when you select the number tabs this may vary depending on your operating system when you select the no 2 tab this should be the extended desktop always click apply after making any changes. or Click start control panel administration tools computer management device manager scroll to monitors right click select scan for hardware changes if you can get an extended desktop your monitor is faulty if you cant get an exended desktop Hope this helps.

No image is coming out of its LCD. It's diagnosed to have damaged video chipset. It seems its cooling system is inefficient. model: Sony VAIO VGN-CR131E

Hi

Who diagnosed it?

If the surface of the "video chipset" (graphics chip) is damaged it may be possible for a specialist, with an Infra Red Workstation to repair it:

Ball Graphics Array Reflow

or

Ball Graphics Array Reballing

These repairs can be expensive and the fault can come back after repair.

But it might also be a fault with the LCD Panel, the Cold Cathode Backlight or the LCD Panel Power Inverter.

Connect the laptop to an external desktop monitor with a VGA cable, using the Fn + F5, F6 or F7 button to send the image to the external monitor. If no image appears, then the fault is with the graphics chip, if you get an external image then the fault is with one of the other components I mention above.

I hope this helps.

I have a Sony VGN-CR220E. It would turn on but all I see is a black screen. The green light on the bottom lights up but all the rest won't light up anymore especially the 3rd light that would blink,...

One thing to try is if you can, connect an external monitor to the computer. Turn it off and then back on with the external monitor on. If video on the external monitor then the problem is with the laptop monitor most likely the FL inverter or the lcd itself. If no external video, it is most likely a motherboard problem.

Sounds like your internal video connector is loose or the cable could be bad. Try turning it on and moving the screen into different positions. You can also try pushing on the top edge of the laptop.

Get an old monitor CRT or LCD. Connect this to the back of your laptop to the appropriate connection. Turn on this monitor and your laptop. Now on your laptops keyboard are some blue highlighted keys called function keys. Press and hold the one marked "Fn" and then press the F7 key (on my Sony - yours may be different but the key with a small blue rectangle with LCD inside a foward slash to what looks like an oval with square sides) this is the external monitor key. If the external monitor comes on with the laptops screen information then your mercury lamp in the laptops screen has died. Then a reputable repairman can replace your screen and lamp for $200. - $300. If nothing appears on the screen then most likely the video chip in your laptop has died. Replacing this will require a new motherboard for the laptop. You should contact Sony about price and any extended warranties they may have,
