Lower washing machine function inoperative in Maytag stackable

Maytag model LSG7806AAE, stacked washer/dryer (gas) (4 years old):

Lower washing machine will not initiate cycle. Dryer works fine. There is no response (no clicking noise, either) when wash function is commanded in any/all rotary dial positions. However, dial can be rotated to the "spin" function, and washer enters spin cycle.

It seems as though washer will not function on any cycle that depends on either filling the tub with water or sensing water already in the tub.

Any help here?

Thanks.

This is very odd, and probably isn't going to be any help,,,, but i know that most top loading washers have motors that spin in 2 directions. 1 direction engages the transmission/gearbox which than makes the agitator go back and forth while also turning the water pump in a direction that actually sucks in air, or water. When the motor spins in the other direction the transmission/gearbox engages so that only the drum spins and the water pump now does its job and pumps out any water in the drum before and while its spinning. With this in mind, and the fact that you say the washer only spins,,,, its possible that the motor is only spinning in one direction allowing the washer to drain and spin,,,, but not agitate.

Dryer gas heat not staing lit

It is probably electronic gas valve, or safety valve that let the gas flow and shuts off immediately. Better take it to the repair shop will save yourself $75.00 service fee.

Mle2000ayw Stackable washer/dryer not washing, spinning

If the door lock light is on then is might be the "door lock enable spin switch" the plunger at the opposite end from the wax motor is not fully depressing the switch. In the stackable it is just behing the door lock. Remove the two middle covers (2 white phillips screws and one hex head screw on the middle of lower cover by the wires)to test place a few layers of masking tape on the end of the plunger and cycle the machine. Might also be a weak Wax motor (dark brown in color) to be safe replace both for about $12 each. Fix in 10 - 15 min.

Maytag LSG7806A stackable washer/dryer - dryer not working

Deb, as long as the ignitor is glowing, it's probably your coils on the valve. Look at number 13 and 14 on the attachment. Part number for the booster coil is 306106 and 306105 for the secondary coil. Not a hard job, the coils slide right off after removing a screw and then replace the harness. Catriver...post back.
