Lenovo laptop:check cable connection!

I had trouble with my hard drive. It used to say no bootable device and it would not be able to progress into the desktop. I had my computer repaired, and now ,When I start it, it says ''check cable connection!!'' ...but it does go further after that message ,and to the Windows 8 mainscreen, where I can use the computer normally, go to the internet, browse Windows..Except, It seems slower than before now. There is also a message saying ''RESTART TO REPAIR DRIVE ERRORS''! I have restarted already at least twice, and it says the same thing.. Thank you !

When laptop says no bootable device

re-seat hard drive and check settings for boot devices in bios.
run ibm diagnostics and see if it is seeing the hard drive . if it is run the hard drive tests if they pass then you probably have misconfigured the bios settings somehow. if the hard drive is not found or fails the tests then im afraid your going to have to look in to an exspensive data reclamation service, your best bet there is go to the hard drive manufacturer or even ibm itself.

Acer Aspire one 722 windows 7 netbook. "Check cable connection" and "no bootable device--insert boot disk and press any key" are two common things appearing. The computer recognized hardrive, hardr

Hello, it looks like somehow the master boot record was erased from the hard drive, maybe viral? You mentioned the hard drive was recognized in the bios correct? If you need data from the hard drive the easiest way would be to pull the hard drive out and use an external hard drive enclosure to remove the data before you erase everything from the hard drive. If you dont need anything thing you can proceed to do a new install of Windows 7. Turn the computer on then hold alt and the f10 key to perform a factory recovery. This will erase everything and reinstall Windows 7. If this doesnt work then you will need a new hard drive and a bootable usb drive with Windows 7 on it. Hope this helps.

Loveno S10-2 - No bootable device found

Make sure your hard drive has higher priority in the boot options in BIOS. If it still doesn't boot then you will need to replace your hard drive. If it shows no hard drive in BIOS then the drive is most certainly bad and needs to be replaced.

My laptop says no bootable device insert disk what is wrong?

NO BOOTABLE DEVICE When the PC cannot see a boot file/disk on either the hard disk or floppy drive it gives an error message "No bootable device. Insert boot disk and press any key" First thing, check to see if the is a floppy disk in the floppy drive, if so removes this disk. If there was no disk in the floppy drive then it may be a hard disk problem.
Check the BIOS to see if the hard disk is detected, if not open the case and re-seat the data cable on the hard drive and also where it connects to the motherboard disk controller.
If it still gives this error message and the BIOS does not detect this hard drive, then the hard drive is probably faulty.
A further check on the hard drive, remove the hard drive and connect it to an USB hard drive adapter and connect it to a working computer's USB port, if this computer does not detect it as an external storage device then the hard drive is faulty.
To get the computer operating again, install a new hard drive in your computer and then install Windows on this hard drive plus the computer's device drivers and your programs.

Why is my bootable device not found

It is more than likely the hard drive has issues, have the hardware tested for possible replacement.

My gateway says "Check cable connection!PXE-MOF: Exiting Intel PXE ROM. No bootable device--insert boot disk and press any key". What should I do?

Sounds like the hard drive isn't getting power, the data cable to the drive isn't connected,or the drive controller on the motherboard is toast(I'm a novice tinkerer, not an expert).

Check cable connection! PXE-M0F : Exiting Intel PXE ROM. No bootable device

Your machine is trying to boot off a network and not the hard drive. You need to set it in BIOS to boot from the hard drive. If it cannot find a bootable device, then your hard drive or your operating system is defective or disconnected.

My toshiba lap top starts up as normal then the msg media test faiure and no bootable device whats wrong

The laptop isn't seeing the hard drive. It has either bounced loose (doubtful) or the hard drive is defective. You can open panels on laptop and find the hard drive, remove and then replace it and see if it reads. Failing this check to see if it's still on warranty or buy another one similar to yours.
