I have an asus p5vdc-mx motherboard and I installed 2 separate Kingston 1gb ddr2 Ram (total 2gb ddr2 ram) but the system info only says 1024mb ram why isn't it showing 2048 - i have already check both rams...

Hello,

What os are your using? XP, Vista, Win 7?) Also, was this a new motherboard and what type of case are you using? Lastly, I would recommend you checking your BIOS and make sure there are no limits set on the memory cap. (Usually found in older system but check anyway.)

Good Luck.

Hi..i have a P4m800-M7 rev 3.1 motherboard which recently had only 1 512MB DDR 400mhz RAM.. itried to install an additional 256MB DDR 400mzh ram but the system recognizes only the 512MB RAM. I've tried...

Check that your memory is supported, according to Biostar documentation for your motherboard:

Single Channel Mode DDR2 Memory
Registered DIMM and ECC DIMM is not supported

Re-check the memory module's specifications.

My biostar P4M800 Pro-M7 only shows 1gig of ram, but i have 2gig... Wat could be the problem?

Are both chips identical ? if so

Take out the ram and replace it one stick at a time in the socket 0 or 1

If both sets of Ram work then check your instruction book on the motherboard and see what is the maximum ram it will take .

Get a copy of Memtest86+ from www.memtest.org
and run it on both chips , that will show if there is any errors on them.

RAM DDR2 PC 1300

DDR 2 will _not_ work the way it's supposed to in a DDR slot, if at all. If you want to see what memory your computer can use, go to crucial.com or similar website for a free scan of your computer. From the spec. sheet it looks like your machine takes a maximum of 2 sticks of 1 gig each (for a total of 2 gigs) DDR SDRAM, either 333 or 400MHz of memory

Please help

Hi,
The reason you are getting the beeps is because your computer has found Hardware problems. Different amounts and length of beeps mean different things. Laptops are different from Desktops so i cant tell you what it is but its most likely to be the RAM since you tried to change it.

When changing RAM: Not all ram is the same
1. Locate the original Ram. Does it Say DDR1 or DDR2. Make sure you get the same!
2. The Speed of the ram

PC66=66MHz SD Ram
PC133=133MHz SD Ram
PC1600=200MHZ DDR2
PC2100=266MHz DDR2
PC2700=333MHZ DDR2
PC3200=400MHz DDR2
PC3500=533MHz DDR2
PC5300=667Mhz DDR2
PC6400=800MHz DDR2
PC8500=1066MHz DDR2

Make sure both ram have the same specs and try to make it the same as the original stick.
When changing Hardware, be careful of Electro Static Discharge. Touch something metal like your computer case or a aluminum kitchen sink. Then static stored in your body may destroy the ram or your Laptop.

Upgrade vga & processor for elite P4M800-M7

Hi kapitan, for starters the AGP is faster than a PCI. Yes, you can upgrade to 512MB. There is a direct path to the CPU when using an AGP video card.
Elite Group has 2 P4M800-M7's. One is version 1.0 & 3.1.
Though both boards are very similar they are different when it comes to CPU support.
When you view the main pages for you're Elite Group P4M800-M7. Look to the left for CPU Supported & click it. I'll list both boards along with their link to supported CPU list. You will need to find the version number (on the board) in order to pick the correct CPU supported per version number.
Link 1, Version Number 1.0
http://www.ecsusa.com/ECSWebSite/Products/ProductsDetail.aspx?detailid=531&CategoryID=1&DetailName=Specification&MenuID=7&LanID=9
CPU's supported. V1.0
http://www.ecsusa.com/ECSWebSite/Support/CPU_Support_Model.aspx?detailid=531&MenuID=69&LanID=9

Link 2, Version 3.1
http://www.ecsusa.com/ECSWebSite/Products/ProductsDetail.aspx?detailid=548&CategoryID=1&DetailName=Specification&MenuID=7&LanID=9
CPU's supported V3.1
http://www.ecsusa.com/ECSWebSite/Support/CPU_Support_Model.aspx?detailid=548&MenuID=69&LanID=9

Depending on the version number you can reach CPU of 3.8MHz.

Hope this was helpful.
Feel free to ask if you need more service.
Good Luck!
