Windows keeps a record of the serial and/or model number of your motherboard when Windows is installed. If windows tries to start and senses that the number(s) of the motherboard are different, Windows refuses to start. You have to use your Windows installation disk and run the Windows Setup. If you have WinXP or Win2K you might be able to just run the "Repair" function, so try that first. If that does not work, run the complete Windows Installation. So long as you do NOT allow Windows setup to partition your Hard Drive, and you do NOT install Windows to a new directory (folder)... then Windows -should- retain all of your programs, personal settings, desktop picture, etc.

I just installed an Asrock K7S41GX motherboard in my HP computer and it won't recognize USB keyboard and mouse or boot up. Any ideas?

Try temporarily connecting a standard keyboard. If it now boots up o.k., the OS should write the prescence of the wireless device to BIOS and you should be able to boot up with your wireless devices only.

I just installed a used Asrock K7S41GX board which is working just fine exept I have no sound through my external speakers. The internal speaker on the the board beeps on startup but nothing after that. Do...

If you hear just one short beep on the onboard speaker it means that everything is fine. You should download the drivers for the onboard sound from Asrock website.

Boot up problem

Although this is almost always a hardware problem, pinpointing which hardware is the culprit can be a tedious task so before making any hardware changes, assume first that this may be is a software problem. Assuming that you have Windows XP installed as your OS. You can try fixing your system with System Restore. To do this, turn on your PC and press F8 during the boot-up process. Select Safe Mode and login with an Administrator Account. A pop-up window will then prompt you to enter Windows in Safe Mode or just Restore your system by using System Restore, choosing NO will automatically open up the SYSTEM RESTORE window. Choose a restore point (a point or a date where your PC worked well before having problems). Your PC will reboot with the configuration set on your selected restore point. If this doesn;t solve the problem. You can try fixing your system using your Windows XP installation CD. Just don't forget to set your CD as the first boot device.

AMD XP2400+ with K7S41GX

Hi, the only reason that comes to mind here is your version of XP. A retail version will load on almost anything, a version supplied with a brand name computer may only be suitable for that brand, Dell/HP etc. Sorry if I am not much help, don't discard your old board, you could buy an add on card for ide connection then disable the onboard one and continue with the old system.
