How do i adjust the valves?
Using the choke as you did, mentioned in your problem, you have flooded the carburetor. DO NOT USE THE CHOKE,ONCE THE TRACTOR IS RUNNING. Choke is used to start the motor only. When you run with the choke on,the motor gets to much gas and the plug(s) get fowled up and gas comes out of the carburetor. Remember the motor is hot, when gas comes out of the carburetor, the amount of over flow (flooding),could cause a FIRE. Lay off the choke, clean the spark plug(s),they will most likely be fowled up. The filter will be soaked with gas, remove the filter, soak up the gas, using a handy wipe, let filter dry out. Once dry replace filter. You should be good to go. Remember,do not over choke, use when starting a cold motor, usually when motor is hot from running, you may not have to use the choke at all. Hope this helps. Sincerely,Brad Locke

Well this could be a couple of things first thing first is check the air filter and make sure its clean you can blow it with air or pore gas over it and clean it make sure you let it dry before reinserting
second im assuming this is the first time you have used it this year if so the gas you have in it hasnt been sitting in it all year has it like anything else gas gets old
third alot of times you can let it run for a while with the choke out then slowly pushing it in
fourth you could have water in the gas remove the tank and empty it remove the spark plug turn the engine 4 or 5 times only bumping it dont hold it down this will blow some of the water out then dry the spark plug off and replace it
if this doesnt help it could possibly be carburetor problems

Sounds like it is leaning out, running out of fuel. That can be the strainer at the gas tank, any fuel filters it has. Disconnect the fuel line from the carb and see how good the flow is to it, and check for water. A new spark plug never hurts.

I had the same exact problem with mine :) I adjusted the valves and cleaned the fuel bowl on the bottom of the carberator, and it helped for a while, but started again a monh later. Recently, I took the head off and found a large amount of carbon deposit in the head and on the piston. I believe the new 10% ethanol fuels don't burn as cleanly as before. You may try to run a higher octane fuel or a small amount of fuel system cleaner through the engine to try to remove these deposits. Let me know if this helps :)
