Water is leaking (or spraying) onto the ice cubes in the ice storage unit, causing all the ice cubes to freeze together and when you press the controll for ice it will not dispense because all the cubes are froze together. Just didn't know if there was a hose that needs replaced or something to try first.

Check and make sure you door seal is tight. Take a dollar bill and place it between the door jam and gasket, close the door and then pull the bill slowly out. It should be rather tight all the way around. So you will have to do several checks all the way around the door. If you have a bad spot call and have them either replace the gasket or adjust the door. The other thing you can do (I have found most if not all manufacturers require this) empty your ice maker once a week. The problem comes from your refer being a self defrost. There is a heater coil that gets as hot as a range element to defrost the evap coil. It is the defrost cycle that causes the ice to melt down a bit. And the defrost cycles every 12 to 24 hours causing the cubes on top to melt down some. So as your bucket fills whatever was on top melts a bit and by the time you are ready to use several layers may be melted causing them to stick together.

The filter should be before the fridge and should not affect it it sounds like the water valve from the fridge is defective .Other possibility is the icemaker head is defective and needs changing.
SOURCE: ICE MAKER WONT MAKE ICE
Water flow is governed by a solenoid valve which is controlled by a timer that sets the cycle for all of the icemaker functions. The timer is controlled in turn by the switch that is actuated when the bin is full.
One of these three is malfunctioning and to determine which is at fault will require the removal of the icemaker mechanism (to check the switch) and possibly sheet metal on the back of the fridge.
You will also need a multimeter of some kind to check for switch operation and continuity of the solenoid coil.
Adequate instruments can cost as little as $3 and in any case under $20, have digital displays and are normally accompanied by some instructions in Chinglish which are somtimes pretty entertaining.

CHECK THE WATER SUPPLY HOSE GOING TO THE ICE MAKER ITSELF ,YOUR HOSE MIGHT HAVE A SMALL BLOCKAGE IN IT,TAKE A LONG PIECE OF THIN WIRE AND RUN IT THROUGH THE HOSE,THAT MIGHT SOLVE YOUR PROBLEM.

yes their is a water valve , 2 things it could be your valve or you i/m. the i/m tells the water valve to fill for about 6-9 seconds if the icemaker is bad it could be telling it to fill for 10 seconds instead of the normal time and overflow the icemaker ,or the water valve also called solenoid could be bad and at not stopping at the desighned time. i dont have your model # to go much furthur but you can remove the cover in the front of the icemaker and see if you see an icemaker water level adjustment screw, newer ge and frigidaire ref. cannot be adjusted, however wpl, maytag, and older ge ref can be and older frg.try adjusting water level at icemaker first .
