Magic Chef Over-Range Microwave Oven Model:MCO153UBF

I had a lightbulb blow under the microwave, so I disconnected the power, and changed both bulbs as a precaution, now only 1 bulb works, the fan will not run, and the turn-table will not turn, the light inside the microwave will not illuminate, yet the unit will still heat up.......... Any Ideas?????

I have the exact same problem. I have replaced both under-the-unit bulbs and have checked for lose connections. Still, the lights do not work, the turntable does not turn, but the oven still heats up. Can anyone please suggest something else to try?

Our unit did the same thing. We tried reseting breaker... removed bulbs... no luck.. checked for loose contacts. No luck

We are having the same problem... changed the two bulbs under the unit, turn the breaker back on and wow now the turn table will not turn the light in the oven will not come on while heating but does come on while door is open. The fan however does still work, but the whole unit will loose all power for no reason. Very weird, my unit is only 18 mo. old.

same identical problem. However, there seemed to be no initiating sequence, no causal event....The bulbs burnt out some time ago, and then just 2 days ago the same symptoms occured as described by these others.

Did anyone have success in restoring power to turntable and cooking light?

NOW-IT COOKS: but NO TURNTABLE, NO LIGHT WHILE COOKING, NO LIGHT UNDERNEATH THOUGH 2 NEW BULBS. REMOVED SHIELD & WIGGLED BULBS + CONNECTIONS; IT JUST HEATS.

So far, my inside light won't come on. I haven't done anything to fix it, but a friend explained that when he changed the light underneath on his ove rhte range microwave (not sure of the make/model) it stopped working altogether. When he contacted the manufacturer, they said it was due to the new light bulb and he'd have to order special bulbs from some place in Las Vegas. Wonder if Magic Chef also requires special bulbs?

I had to change the two bulbs underneath my microven, and now the turn table and the interior lite that comes on when the micro. is working does not work. Also I don't have the low setting on the exterior lite just the high setting. Also the fan does not come on when the machine is working. So I would like to know what to do. All this because I replaced the bulbs? Thanks Dan

The turn table and fan are connected in series with the bulb,as you have mentioned that you have replaced bulb,so please check again for any loose contact on bulb holder or bulb continuity again.

I just replaced the two bulbs underneath my microven, now the turntable nor the fan or the lite work when the machine is working. Where did I go wrong? All I did was replace the two bulbs. Dan.

Magic Chef MCO153UBF microwave

There are two things that come to mind, the magnetron is starting to fail, or the strapping has come loose on the fan motor housing, unplug microwave oven and remove top, [several screws] carefully inspect the fan for any loose mounts and tighten.

The lightbulb is the only item not working on my microwave. How do you change it? Please advise Thank you

Remove cover screws and pull off cover, then you will have access to the bulb and everything else. The bulb either pulls out or turns and pulls out. There isn't much to these units. Just have to take cover off.

Vent fan high comes on automatically with cooking

Right, that would be MCO10UW and the owner's manual is here.

The owner's manual does say this, of course,

"To prevent overheating from taking place, the exhaust
fan is designed to automatically turn on at a low speed if
excessive temperatures occur. Should this happen, the
fan cannot be manually turned off, but it will
automatically turn off when the internal parts have
cooled. The fan may stay on for up to an hour after the
range and microwave oven controls have been turned
off."

That;'s standard on microwaves.

But these models do have a separate internal cooling fan (which should run any time you microwave) plus the hood vent exhaust fan, which should only run when you select it, or if there is an excessive stovetop or under-hood temperature.

So if it comes on whenever you microwave, that is incorrect.

When that happens, it's usually a defective vent thermal switch (a.k.a. hood TCO).

But since it's brand new, I would certainly contact Magic Chef about this. If it's in need of repair, they will fix it free, assuming the oven wasn't physically damaged.

Magic Chef Over the Range, MicroOven, model MCO153UBF

I tried the usual things, then checked the outlet in the cupboard where the unit is plugged in.....It was okay, but then I noticed a separate electrical cable going into the wall at the outlet. I went to the breaker box downstairs, found a breaker marked "Microwave Oven", flicked it off and on and away the microwave oven went....It is now okay. I guess the thermostat had turned everything off when it became too hot....
anyway all okay now....thx Janet

Magic Chef mco153ubf

I had the same problem. My Magic Chef, MCO153UBF Microwave had similar problems. The Magnatron, Cooling fan, Turn table and under hood lights were not working at all after hearing a pop sound under the control panel. Thought it was the fuse but the fuse was fine after testing and replacing. I checked the circuit breaker wired to my house and saw it had a break to my kitchen outlets so i flipped the switch to get back the kitchen outlets. Then I checked the microwaves Control Panel ( Printed Circuit Board) underneath and saw to traces were burnt. I soldered the two trace lines and the fixed the problem.
