Insert tape, it expands internally as designed, but then tape will come back and will not record. When trying to eject tape, it hangs up internally on components and have to work manually to release tape for removal.
This is a Sony VCR SLV-N700
There is a threading arm that has gummed up inside the unit. I suspect that the tape is not being loaded correctly. This is a common problem with the Sony units and requires the removal of that loading arm to remove gummed up grease. Once that is completed, the unit will function correctly. Please note that the height of this swing arm is critical to the correct loading of the tape. I would not suggest you attempt this repair because the tape height adjustment needs to be exact. A local shop should be able to resolve this for you with NO parts required.
