I have gta vice city for the ps2 and it barley has any scratches and when i start playing gta my ps2 will start ticking and then it will say error reading grand theft auto vice city dvd in the middle of the game and i'v tried ever thing toothpaste, alcohol,cleaing the laser and ps2 and diagnosis mode but nothing except 20 minutes of playing and a error message it will automaticaly frezze when i drive a car and my ps2 is the big thick one not the slim SO PLEASE HELP ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It may not be your game disk at all so I'd probably give the alcohol, toothpaste and whatever else you've been using a rest.
My first PS2 used to overheat a lot, so what I used to do was unplug the AC adapter (after shutting it off) from the system when I wasn't using it and that seemed to help.
Also, regular cleaning with a good laser cleaning kit helped extend its life but eventually it just burned out after about two years.
If you have a small electric fan that you can direct at your game system while you're playing, that will help the system temperature stay cool enough to play beyond the 20 minute mark.
GTA Vice City is pretty graphic intensive, and I'm guessing that since you have an older machine it may just be taxing your PS2's resources.
Probably not what you wanted to hear, but the good new is that it plays great on PS3.

i unplugged the ac thing for like 7 hours and and pilug it back in and played gta vc and it worked great but theres still some weird sounds going on with the ps2 when i drove a car but at least i got to play for an hour without it freazing
