Got the same problem on my amp right now.
Trough the schematics i could see that transistors bc184l & bc214l could be the cause in my case. If i turn it on, it can be ok for hours. Untill i turn up the knob with a speaker connected, in 30 sec it shuts down. The PTC on the rectifier board gets hot and also R21&R23 a bit. I will try to change the 3 pnp/npn and also tip50G.
I'll tell you how it will be...

I would replace the device with the heat sink. Anything with one of them can produce thermal problems. Check the values of R21 and R23 to see if they match the colour code on them.
The control part of the circuit was fine. Problem still in. Took off all the mj15024/25 and were fine. Trying to change the BC184/214 & BF123/422 transistors on the channel part of the pcb. Those trans. are hard to be found. Also i would sostitute the SA1085.All the diodes passed the test and capacitors looks fine. Cesare
Changed all bc214 bc184 bc546 bc556 and others one with heat sink. but prob still on. Replacing the mj15025/25 so the final transistors. Last and expensive try. Desolded one by one from pcb but they passed the diode test with multimeter. Problem occurs when current flow through, even after 10 secs. One of them fails. I'll change them all.

If it's not on a timer switch that somehow you have activated, it's likely to be a part that has become heat sensitive. Or has a thermal cut out. Heat sensitive parts can be traced by using a Freezer spray available from Electronic parts shops. You wait while the fault develops and then spray the suspect part. If it comes back to life you have located the fault. You have to do this one at a time to each suspect part. To help find the part ... If all power goes off then look to the power supply, if it's just the sound look to the power amp section for the faulty parts.
SOURCE: left channel not operating on crown xls 602
Every time i have this prob i've blown that channel. In my case i,ve had dodgy connections to my speakers and if it is operating with high voltage rails they don't take much to blow.
Take off cover and you will no doubt find fuses somewhere blown. If it has come from speakers you prob done the amp but if not you might be lucky and just have to replace a single fuse or so.Good luck,Paul
SOURCE: There is a red light shinig inside my CROWN XLS
Lots of electronics have lights (LEDs) that turn on when they are plugged it. Most people just don't notice them. If it is working properly, then the light is normal.
CONDITION: No
power to the amplifier.
POSSIBLE REASON:
• The amplifier's Power switch is off.
• The amplifier is not plugged into the power receptacle.
• The amplifier's high-voltage power supply circuit breaker has tripped. Verify that the AC mains
voltage is correct, then press the Circuit Breaker button on the back panel.
Take it to the ER.
