The Cyan being green, and Yellow being dark gold (near black) is aftermarket inks using elemental colors (Copper for blue will turn green).

Switch to Xerox... that's why they cost more. Elemental inks will also react, and corrode the jets. (This is a simple fact of physics).

How do you only print black, I have only black cartiages left, but it still asks for the other colours.

  • Anonymous Feb 14, 2011

You cannot, only the Phaser printers 8560 and after have the "Run Black" feature. I myself have a 8550 and think that sucks and should not be a feature but just something they can fix with a new driver.

Thats a problem for all of the wax printers the only way to fix it is to purge the blue ink ... print about 50 - 100 pages of 100% fill of cyan http://office.support.xerox.com/infoSMART/spower/data/out98pkb/image/hardware/Phaser860/Purge/Cyan/CyanTest.zip

Do you have the operators manual? Run it through a cleaning cycle. Also Xerox's website will guide you through some maintenance steps. If you are using generic wax, you may have clogged the jets.

That is not true, Xerox just tells you that so you have to use their expensive inks. Aftermarket inks are just as good, if the jets clog it's because the jets just got clogged and not because one wax ink melts any more than the other.

Xerox 8500 phaser prints brown tint

Most likely the cyan ink is burnt. If the ink sticks are left unused (printing more black than color, this will happen.

Print the test pages for PQ troubleshooting from the control panel and examine each print. Cyan will probably have very dark streaks down the page, magenta should look normal, and yellow also will have dark stripes. You need to replace this burnt ink, and the only way is to print. From within paint (or similar accessory in other OS) Create a full page of cyan, and print about 100 - 200 pages, or until the cyan starts to clear up. Yes it is a waste, but much cheaper than a print head, Do this for yellow as well.

Xerox phaser 8500 error code 09, 038, 46:4597

Ink count sensor flags are stuck after melting 2.5 ink sticks. The following codes are recorded: 9,03x.41, where x= 5 for cyan, 6 for magenta, 7 for yellow, and 8 for black. (Your error indicates black ink loader failure)

Features on the bottom of genuine Xerox ink sticks actuate the Ink Out Sensor located at the forward end of each ink channel of the Ink Loader. The sensor indicates the passage of ink to provide a count of ink consumption.

Damaged or non-genuine ink sticks may not reliably actuate the sensors. This can lead to false Ink Out messages as well as Ink Stick count faults. Using 8400 model ink in a 8500/8550/8560 models will also cause 9,03x.4x ink stick count faults.
Ink Loader will need replaced and then diagnostics entered to run "Clear ISC Fault" test to clear the error.

Xerox Phaser 8550 is printing green and yellow with some gray color on all the print job, even after I replaced the ink loader, the black color came back but still getting only green and yellow. The ink...

Try printing a light stripes test page (Troubleshooting, print quality problems, troubleshooting print quality page).
If you have loads of missing jets, run a couple of head cleans, if you see improvement, it is worth running some more, if not, try switching off overnight and rebooting next day. If it still won't clear, you may have a faulty printhead.
If you do not appear to have many missing jets but the colours are all just wrong it may be that the ink has gone stale. Run a couple of head cleans and you should see the colours start to improve. If it is getting better, all you can do is keep running head cleans until you have replenished all the ink in the printhead well.
Hope this helps.

Black not printing correctly. It prints yellow and green

check the black cartridge, it may be out. If it is ok, print a test page to see it will print black. If it does not print black, there may be toner spill blocking the black toner sensor.

Hi i have phaser 8560, it gives me a error 09,038,46:62248, plese who can solve me the problem.

Hi there
The onlty thing I can find close to this is.
Acording to the manual its a ink loader error like your loading the wrong type of ink like the puzzles pieces arent matching and hitting the sensor flags right. Yours by the 8 is referring to the black ink. Anyway go to troubleshooting on the control panel. then to service tools. when in service tools press and hold the up arrow while still pressing the up arrow press the down arrow. the display should say hidden menus. go to diagnostic mode press enter go to funtion menu. then go to clear ISC fault and enter. ISC=ink stick count fault. I hope that helps. Just to let you know Ive had nothing but problems with third party ink and once its in the system its hard to get out so I would watch what im doing with my expensive equipment

I have a Xerox Phaser 8400 with image problems. After power up it prints a Startup Page - That page is black text which faded and slightly distorted in some areas and in areas that are in Color only...

What you are describing is a bad print head. You can try running the eliminate light stripes several times, and jet substitution, but most likely the print head will have to be replaced to remedy your problem.
You can try googling. Phaser printer print heads or phaser printheads.
There seems to be a secondary market appearing for those print heads. I can tell you from Xerox, if you have no maintenance agreement, they cost $750 per print head.
Honestly, having worked on about every type of color printer known to man, the new solid ink phaser printers, produce a dry ink image of 2400 x 2400 dpi with ink particles that align end to end. The resolution of those printers are remarkable and can be purchased for less than the price of one of those new print heads.
Now for reliable, albeit somewhat not as sharp a color image, but still exceptional, you really can not beat an HP.
The ink stick technology really no longer has the color vividness advantage it initially had. The inks that align end to end, have ended that advantage and are sure a lot cheaper to operate per page.
