SOURCE: I have a craftsman garage door opener (1/2 hp) won't close proper

Check your door sensors. They have probably been bumped. Tweak them until they are pointed at one another and the small light on each one is lit and not blinking.

SOURCE: I have a Craftsman 1/2hp garage door opener, model

First of all check the battery in the keypad. If that doesn't do it your keypad is going bad and needs to be replaced.

SOURCE: Remote Control closes garage door but does not open

It sounds like a case of your keypad losing signal strength enough that it cannot transmit through the closed door. If a new battery doesn't do the job a new keypad will.

My 1/3 hp craftsmen door opener just hums when you hit the wall button or remotes in the car. I replaced the starter motor capacitor and nothing changed any ideas?

Is the door stuck in the open position? If so the trolley is probably jammed against the bolt just in front of the motor unit. Loosen the chain until the tension is removed from the trolley. Run the motor until the door is closed. While the door is closed locate the 'up limit' adjustment on the side of the motor unit and turn this 2 complete turns in the opposite direction of the arrow printed on the cover. Tighten the chain.

You most likely have a bad wall control or the wiring to it. An easy way to check this is to remove the connection at terminal #1 on the rear of the motor unit. Just remember that your wall control will not work with this wire off. Your remotes will still work though.

My 1/2 hp sears craftsman garage door opener bought in 1992 has stopped working, The motor hums when the remote or wall button is pressed but the door will not move at all. Please help

Most common cause of the problem you describe is a bad start capacitor. Remove the cover from the motor unit. The capacitor is about 5 inches long and 2 inches in diameter.

Craftsman 1/2 hp opener won't open using the outdoor keypad. It will close when using the outdoor keypad but not open. Wall unit closes and opens it. changed battery in keypad, no difference

If your hand remotes work okay then the keypad has lost signal strength and needs to be replaced. If your hand remotes act the same way then your logic board is bad.

If the main light flashes 10 times when you try to close the door it is a sensor problem. Make sure they are not flickering ever so slightly and that they are not loose on their brackets. Tweak them a little bit.

It sounds like your door sensors may be misaligned. If when you try to close the door the main light flashes 10 times and the door reverses to the open position this is the case. Make sure the small light on each sensor is lit and not flickering. Tweak the sensors to see if you can get both lights to come on. If not you have a bad sensor.
