When I pull the inner knob out, it just turns without engaging the inner piece to select a wash cycle.

Have a Maytag washer LAT9635AAE. It fills with water and does not proceed. The timer seems to move the dial around but doesn't engage the washing functions. At first I thought it was simply not...

Remove the timer and get the outer skin off of it. Twist the timer around and hunt for burn marks on the barrel. I suspect it is the timer. To get it off you pop the cap on the knob and under it is a keeper and spring you remove. Then the knob and skirt will come off and you can get to the screws which hold the timer to the consolethemobilian_29.png
If the timer turns out to be ok then the motor is suspect.
Note: This washer is well worth repairing. Anything out there on the market now is trash compared to this machine. Invest in repairing it. You will be glad you did.

What is the capicity of a GE WWA7600S washer

Here is the user's manual:

http://genet.geappliances.com/DocSearch/pdf/49-9810.PDF

They never talk about weight or capacity other than

Setting the Controls

Use the Suggested Fabric and Cycle Settings guide ~ Select Rinse Temperature.

to help you make the proper selections.

~ Select Wash Spin Speed.

~ Push Cycle Selector knob in and turn clockwise to

your selected wash setting. If you wish to change setting

~ Select Water Level. ~ Pull Cycle Selector knob + START out to start the washer.

SMALL: Washer is less than 1/3 full of clothes.

MEDIUM: Between 1/3 and 1/2 full.

LARGE: Between 1/2 and 2/3 full.

This washer will pretty much take anything you can throw at it. It was a competetor of the Maytag large capacity washers. As long as you follow the loading guide above you are not going to hurt it.

The knob is not working. It just turns without starting the washer. I have to press down hard to get the knob to turn to the cycle I want. Is there a way to fix this? GE Top Loader WHDSR109J

This is a common failure. The teeth on the knob have worn off. If you pull the knob out you will see a small clip that can be pulled off this will release the knob. Usually both pieces of the knob need to be replaced. For diagrams and illustrations enter your model # at www.appliancehelponline.com

The dial to select wash cycle (GE top load washer) seems loose. It is difficult to turn, as if something is not engaging. Any suggestions?

The knob wears out and won't grab. It is easy enough to replace if you know the trick. Take pair of tweezers and remove the clip behind the knob, just push on the replacement knob and oil the timer then move the timer around several times to help the shaft turn easier.b8e8a25.jpg

Wash cycle dial wont turn...will still push in and pull to start

We have a GE WJRR4170 washer, with the same problem. At first I thought I might have to unscrew the entire control panel just to replace the knob. However, replacing the knob turns out to be easy.

Right behind the knob, holding it in place, is a nylon/plastic retainer clip. If you pull out the knob (into the "start" position), you will get easier access to the retainer clip. You can use a flathead screwdriver to push the clip out. The knob then will slide easily off the metal stem. A GE replacement knob costs $9 or $10, depending on the source.

Shame on GE, but the knob is designed terribly. The part of it that engages the dial has eight, flimsy plastic teeth. At any time, four of these are supposed to engage four little slots in the dial. However, the way the knob is designed, there will be a lot of wear and tear on these plastic teeth, so they'll wear out on every single machine.

Good luck to the many people who will have this problem!

Kenmore series 80 model 110

If you are talking about the Cycle Selection knob, turn the washer to an OFF position, or unplug. I can't remember if you need to pull the knob out or leave pushed in, but the knob will come off by turning it counter-clockwise. After unscrewing it and removing, the plastic dial under the center knob will simply pull off. I hope this helps you. If you need further assistance, please let me know.

Washing machne problem

The help that you gave me was completely wrong. The support ring was okay. I solved my problem by buying a new timer and control knobs. The teflong 'gears' were worn out so the knobs rotated freely.
