my emachines keyboard "serves" a desktop PC not a laptop; I still need (and would be ever so grateful for) advice on how to  to identify the function key!

emachines keyboard model No KB0108; hope this helps

  • Anonymous Apr 19, 2013

confusing...is it the one marked with a flag, between Ctrl and Alt?!

  • Michael Green Apr 19, 2013

No the Flag one is the "Windows" key. Ususllay used to access the "My Computer" function by pressing in conjuction with the "E" key. The key you are looking for may be marked as "F lock" or similar.

  • Anonymous Apr 19, 2013

Nope, only F1 thru' toF12...Canadian keyb'd...other way(s) of putting accents on "es"??

  • Michael Green Apr 20, 2013

You only need to switch the function keys on/off if the key has more than one function. (Like with a Media Centre keyboard)

Flummoxed, sorry...bye bye don't want to waste good folks' time

  • Michael Green Apr 21, 2013

It isn't a waste, We all learn something each time. Keeps the brain from rusting up. (Well, mine anyway.)

  • Michael Green Apr 21, 2013

Just a quickie. Can you post a photo of the keyboard?

  • Michael Green Apr 21, 2013

Just had a look at an image of one. The "function" keys and all of the ohter keys on the board require a "driver" this will program the multimedia keys and the internet and other special keys. The normal "F type" keys should work as marked without pressing anything else. Here is a link to the drivers. Hope it helps.http://members.driverguide.com/driver/de...

Look for the one with a letter "F" on it, but not next to G,D,R,C and Vit will be at the top next to the function keys or near the left CTRL button.

Look for a wireless icon similar to the attached picture on the keyboard, it locates usually among F1 to F12 keys, if you don't see anything similar from F1 to F12, then try looking from 1 to 9 keys. Once it's located, press and hold down the Fn key on the keyboard and press the key with the icon (i.e. wireless icon) simultaneously for a couple of seconds, this will turn on and off the wireless function of your system. Let me know if you need further help with the model number of your emachine. Good Luck.

How to identify function key on emachines keyboard

No that's the Windows key

For a desktop computer keyboard, keys F1 through F12 are the Function keys. No Fn key needed.

For a laptop computer hold the Fn key down, then tap once on the F1 through F12 keys

What are the names of kyboard and its keys ?

it is only for a computer keyboard hope it help from you.

A computer keyboard serves as a main operating tool for accessing and inputting data into a computer. The keyboard features many functions and keys that a user may never use, but is still essential to some users. Understanding the keyboard can improve computer knowledge and use.

QWERTY Pad

The "QWERTY" pad is main sections of letters on the keyboard. These letters are mainly used for typing and also as shortcuts in programs like Windows Movie Maker, Adobe After Effects and computer games.
Number Pads

The far right side of the keyboard features a number pad that resembles a calculator. This number pad is essential for programs like Excel, but can also be used to input numbers as a typing function. More numbers are just above the "QWERTY" keyboard that also feature symbols when the "Shift" button is used.
Arrow Keys

The right bottom of a keyboard features four directional arrow keys. These keys provide navigation through word processing documents and also serve as scrolling functions in web browsers.
F Bar

The top of a keyboard features the "F Keys," a selection of keys that extends to "F12" on most keyboards. These keys serve different functions. For example, "Alt and F4" exits out of a program. "F1" will start the typing helper in word processing programs.
Extra Keys

New keyboard feature shortcut keys at the top of the keyboard. These include shortcuts like "Power," "Sleep Mode," "Calculator," "My Computer" and "Web." Some also include media controls for movies and music.

How do you change brightness on screen on emachines notepads

Look for the "Fn" key at the lower left of the keyboard. Hold this down and look at the "F" or function keys at the top of the keyboard, look for the symbol that looks like the sun or light shining, there may be one key that simply toggles through the settings or there may be two keys, one for brightness and then another for dimming. Most functions will be printed in blue on a notebook keyboard, so also look at the arrow keys to the right, there maybe brightness indicators on the up arrow as well as the down arrow. When ever you want to perform a certain function with these keys, you have to hold down the "Fn" key while pressing the function key.
