Error 3 indicates that pulses from the rotation are not recognized. On the 5702 this could indicate that your motor does not spin or the connections in between is not indicating that the motor is spinning... or the motor and connections are fine and the board is failing. The Eppendorf manual states that Error 3 means that there was an anomaly in the speed sensing system. The corrective action is to leave the power on with the centrifuge not spinning for several minutes and the error should clear itself.

If the error persists, then the speed sensor is probably damaged, and the unit will need to be serviced by a qualified technician.

Eppendorf 5402 centrifuge front screen not working

you are right, there is no manual, except for the 5420. Try here, they do Sales and Service as well

Did you ask them direct for support? Did you open it up and check Ribbon Cable connections?

Eppendorf centrifuge model 5702: lid not does latch/lock after emergency release.

If the lid of your Eppendorf centrifuge model 5702 is not latching or locking closed after the emergency release, it is possible that the locking mechanism is damaged or misaligned. Here are some steps you can try to troubleshoot the issue:
  1. Check the alignment of the lid: Make sure that the lid is properly aligned with the base of the centrifuge. If it is not, the locking mechanism may not engage correctly. Adjust the lid as needed and try to latch it closed.
  2. Inspect the locking mechanism: Check the locking mechanism on both the lid and the base of the centrifuge for any signs of damage or wear. If you see any damage, you may need to replace the locking mechanism.
  3. Check the safety interlock switch: The safety interlock switch is a small button located on the base of the centrifuge that is depressed when the lid is closed. If this switch is not working correctly, it can prevent the lid from latching closed. Check that the switch is functioning properly by pressing it with a small tool while attempting to latch the lid.
  4. Contact Eppendorf customer support: If none of the above steps work, you may need to contact Eppendorf customer support for further assistance. They can help you troubleshoot the issue and provide advice on how to proceed.

Error 2 in 5417R,how do i solve it?thanks

Error 2 on this model indicates that the imbalance sensor is tripped. If you run the unit with an empty rotor and it does not error, then it simply means that your load was imbalanced. Make sure to put vials into the unit opposite each other, as below.

If it displays "Error 2" with an empty rotor and you did not notice a vibration, then the imbalance sensor is broken and must be replaced. Do not attempt to run the centrifuge without the imbalance sensor, as serious injury may result.

I repair these machines, but you would have to ship it to me in Ohio, which would probably be very expensive.

Here is a rotor balance chart:

How to deduce the centrifugation speed from the scale provided?

Do you have a biomedical group in your facility or somebody who's responsible for maintaining your equipment? If you do, they should have a photo-tachometer. They can place a piece of reflective tape onto the rotor to get you the true rpm speed. You probably need an accurate speed anyway to ensure proper rcf for your samples.

Error 1 on the 5402 centrifuge how to repair problem

Dear Sir,

In a 5402 Eppendorf Centrifuge, Error 1 states primarily for an EEPROM error. EEPROM is a tiny memory chip that stores individual details of the centrifuge, mainly the microprocessor time base (for correct time set operations), the mains voltage (115 or 230 V, to inform and set the motor current levels), and the imbalance level adjustment for the imbalance sensor. When the centrifuge powers up, these data are readen, and if all OK, the centrifuge is ready to go. If one of them corrupts, especially the 115 or 230 Volt information, we get Error 1 and no start allowed.
To check and reprogram this EEPROM we have to acess the service routine. This is done by by jumping together pins 1 and 5 of X8 conector, on the base of the electronic board, located behind the power cable panel in the back of the centrifuge. There are about 20 setting or check parameters, but usually 1 or 2 of the described above need to be reprogrammed. Please e-mail me for details:

Rotor seems to be frozen on to spindle; all literature for the HL-4 rotor indicates that the rotor is floating (ie is not attached with any screw or other fastener). Have tried pulling using balance gear...

Have you seen this video with advice?

http://www.benchfly.com/video/41/removing-a-stuck-centrifuge-rotor/

Another tip is to cool the rotor down (either by getting the refrigeration to kick in if it is a refrigerated centrifuge) or perhaps by filling the the rotor with tubes full of ice-water (or something colder...). Everything will shrink slightly, which means the rotor will become a slightly looser fit on the shaft.

Sudden speed increase from 1000 to around 2300 R.P.M.s

Hi. Thanks for your question. The centrifugal forces on the rotor increase dramatically as the rpm goes up. In most cases a manufacturer will use a smaller diameter rotor in a 2 pole (3600 rpm) rated motor than they do in their 1800 rpm (and lower rpm). If the larger rotor is now spun at twice the rpm because of a winding redesign, the rotor is suddenly required to handle 4 times the centrifugal force it was designed to experience (force is increased by the square of the increase in speed). If still you looking for more clarification you can visit https://www.reliable-store.com and download the entire workshop manual. It has all the information along with the diagrams for better understanding. Good day!
