I have a Harmon Kardon HK3490 receiver which has an input for a powered subwoofer. Next to the subwoofer output is a "link switch" which turns on the subwoofer when I turn on the stereo. What...

Connect the Subwoofer Trigger Output for each subwoofer to thecorresponding trigger input on its amplifier. This enables the subwoofer toturn on or off together with the HK 3490. To further conserve energy, when the trigger connection is made, turn the Subwoofer Link Switch onto turn the subwoofer off when the corresponding pair of main speakersare not being used, such as during muting, when headphones are beingused, or when the main speakers are turned off using the Speaker 1/2 switch

THERE IS NO SIGNAL COMING FROM THE SUBWOOFER, IT IS CONNECTED TO A SONY AMPLIFIER IN THE SUBWOOFER JACK, AND CONNECTED TO THE SUBWOOFER IN THE LOW LEVEL INPUT. THE SUBWOOFER IS CONNECTED TO THE MAIN, AND...

With everything connected correctly there could be a couple of possible problems:

1. If your receiver has on screen display capabilities, you may need to turn the subwoofer output "on"
2. If your subwoofer has speaker wire inputs/outputs, you could run speaker wire to it, then to your speakers & test if the subwoofer is working... hence verifying that the receiver has a function to turn the subwoofer output on/off
3. The cable between the subwoofer & receiver could be bad. Try another cable.

Good luck!

Pioneer VSX-815-K receiver with sub in standby

Have you looked in the manual?

No sound from subwoofer. • Make sure the subwoofer is switched on.
• If the subwoofer has a volume knob, make sure it’s turned up.
• The Dolby Digital or DTS source you are listening to may not have an LFE channel.
• Switch the subwoofer setting in Speaker Setting on page 40 to YES or PLUS.
• Switch the LFE Attenuator Setup on page 61 to LFEATT 0 or LFEATT 10.

Subwoofers bump with cd player turned off...?

This is caused by feedback. Turn off the amplifier or if there is an on/off switch on the subwoofer - turn it off. You could also make sure all the connections at the back of the amplifier are good and try not to have any cables crossing over the one from the amp to the subwoofer.

Subwoofer clip/distort problem

It's probably the amp in the subwoofer. Bad cable don't cause clipping. Nor, is an amp output likely to overdrive the subwoofer.

On second thought, why are you using an amp with it turned off? Have you tried turning on the amp whcih provides the signal to the subwoofer? That could well be your problem.

I turned my 15" L7 kicker and smoke started to come out the box

As stated before, knowing the impedance of your subwoofer would really help the situation. Either way the link I have provided is to your subwoofers manual (Incase you dont have it)

But since you have said it has smoked, if it still works I recommend turning the bass boost down (Bass boost causes alot of heat within the subwoofers voice coil and even within the amp itself and should never be maxed out.)

Here is a link to your manual for the subwoofer.
http://www.kicker.com/sites/default/files/SoloBaricL7Series.pdf

So as a solution to your issue, keep your bass boost turned down. You should almost never need it if you have tuned your amp correctly (You have a very serious subwoofer there)

Consider yourself lucky if your subwoofer is still working without issues.

I have Harman Kardon speakers and subwoofers connected to a Denon AVr 1508 receiver. All my five speakers are working but my subwoofer doesnt work. I m pretty sure I have connected the subwoofer properly...

There is a setting under your speaker setup to turn the subwoofer on. If speakers are set to small it auto matically sets the subwoofer to ON. If the speakers are set to large it turns the subwoofer off but you can manually adjust.
