OK, the lens assembly has failed causing a shutdown error. So, technically, the camera is trash because it would WAY more expensive to fix that one than to just buy a new one. NOW, read carefully. When you power on the camera, watch when the lens tries to come out. You'll notice that the shutter on the lens opens first then it pokes out a bit then goes back in and shuts down. If you time it right, you can slip your fingernail under where the shutter is and "assist" the lens out more. dont pull too hard because you'll rip the fron of the lens assembly off. but once it is able to go past this point, 9 times out of 10, it fixes the problem entirely and the camera works just fine after that.
hi, you have problem in lens gear maybe damage or something dust or sand goes inside of the said gear. try to open and clean the lens unit and you can't do that just bring to service center and request for cleaning.
Hi same thing happened with me except I didnt go near sand with mine, I was at a friends house taking pictures and my camera froze, this had happened once before when i was at Kew Gardens, though after i had left it on for a day it worked again, not sure what exactly happened.
P.S.
knowing that im not the only one this has happend to is reasuring, I just dont think this is a good model
