Replacement counterweight for turntable tonearm

I recommend you search for just tonearm counterweights. Rather than your make of deck. You will then have to compare them to see if it will fit your arm. Amazon do have them for different makes. Vestax might be just a name given to a shop brand, the deck itself being made by a more well known company.

Basically, like almost any other turntable.

Look up the recommended tracking force for your cartridge/stylus.

Unplug the power to the turntable.
Using the tonearm elevation control, raise the tonearm.
Manually move the tonearm in toward the platter.
Manually rotate the platter ClockWise a few turns to disengage any cueing mechanisms.
Set the Tracking and Anti-skating controls to 0.
Disengage the tonearm elevation control. The tonearm will either float or drop. This is why we have no power, just in case it hits the platter.
Adjust the counterweight until the tonearm floats exactly horizontal. Use the flat portion of the tonarm rest as a gauge.
Return the tonearm to its rest.
Dial in the prescribed tracking force and anti-skating. Play records.

I can't find the specific turntable. Who makes it?

This should work with some modifications for your specific controls...

Make a note of the tracking force setting.

Make sure the turntable is level.

Unplug the power to the turntable.

Using the tonearm elevation control, raise the tonearm.

Set the Stylus Pressure/Tracking setting to 0.

Disengage the tonearm elevation control. The tonearm will either float or drop. This is why we have no power, just in case it hits the platter.

Return the tonearm to its rest.

Dial in the prescribed tracking force on the Stylus Pressure/Tracking control. Play records.

KEEP THE ANTI SKATE AT 0 FOR NOW,then you need 2 balance the tonearm with the rear counterweight so it just hovers at around the height of the platter.now you need to zero the gauge on the rear counterweight being carefull not to turn the counterweight,then check again that the tonearm still hovers.then screw counterweight inwards untill the dial on counterweight reads between 1.5- 2 grams dependin on tracking weight of cartridge.then adjust antiskate 2 whatever u set the tracking weight to.i would also double check with a spirit level ur level surface

if itys skidding and sliding the needle and cartridge are not okay they are worn out. also you can tighten the counterweight on the tonearm

It doesn't screw on, it pushes on....

"With the tonearm locked in place, put the anti‐skate
dial on "0" and push the counterweight onto the rear of
the tonearm. Make sure that the numbers face to the
front of the turntable. Turn the weight until you feel it
"click" into place.

Unlock the tonearm from the rest, and move it
toward the middle, about one inch from the edge of the
platter. Hold the arm off the surface with your right
hand on the finger lift. Begin turning the counterweight
one way or the other, until the arm seems to just
"float".

As seen in the picture, the arm, when properly
floating, will not face up nor down.. it will stay
with the platter. It may take a few tries to get
correct. Lock the tonearm back on it's rest.

Holding the rear, silver, section of the counterweight
with one hand, use your other hand to turn JUST the
number ring. It doesn't matter which direction you turn
it, but you will want "0" to face up when you are done.

Using just one hand, turn the entire counterweight
(the silver part) COUNTERCLOCKWISE until the
recommended tracking force is achieved. New
cartridges will tell what the ideal number is. As a rule of
thumb, however, most "hi‐fi" cartridges track between
1 and 2 grams, while most DJ cartridges track between
3 and 5 grams.

Set the anti‐skate dial to coincide with the tracking
force... in other words, if the tracking force is 2 grams,
set the anti‐skate dial to "2". The exception is for DJ's
who scratch and back‐cue. Your anti‐skate must be left
on "0". "

Here's a procedure for setting the tonearm...

Set the Tracking Force and AntiSkating to 0.
Using the tonearm elevation control, raise the tonearm.
Manually move the tonearm in toward the platter.
Manually rotate the platter Clockwise a few turns to disengage any cueing mechanisms.
Disengage the tonearm elevation control. The tonearm will either float or drop. This is why we have no power, just in case it hits the platter.

If you don't have a Stylus Tracking Force Gauge. Dial in the prescribed tracking force and a corresponding anti-skate reading. Play records.

i'm too missing the tonearm counterweight for my Gemini TT01. if you haven't figuered out where to buy one, do you know at least what is the weight that is needed to counter the weight of the tonearm or how to measure the tonearm so as to make a counterweight of my own???

You need a headshell unit (which is needle etc for the front of arm)
also the felt pad.. also known as a slipmat, you can pick up at dj supplies shops or on ebay..
I need a counterweight myself as my ION turntable also had missing parts when I got it as a gift.
I found a headshell on ebay which is perfect...Turntable Cartridge and Headshell Black DJ DISCO USB on eBay (end time 08-Sep-09 00:11:01 BST)
I havent yet found a counterweight..I hope I will!
