SOURCE: 2wire modem/router keeps rebooting

ANOTHER COMMON ISSUE: If your modem keeps restarting once the power LED turns solid green, the most likely cause is the power adaptor. Replace the power adaptor and all should be well again.

The drivers are located on the 2wire website. You need to go to support > downloads > Gateways > 100/1000. Those drivers will work for any 2wire gateway that has USB.

SOURCE: I received a new 2wire 2701HG-B modem router for

are you on windows XP, Vista, MAC ???

you start out by seeing if you can ping the 2wire. The ip address you ping from a command prompt is the 2wire's gateway, 192.168.1.254

(you can get to the command prompt by clicking start, then click run, and type cmd and click ok on windows XP)
(on vista, you just click start and type cmd right above it where it says start search and hit enter on your keyboard)
(MAC's have a ping utility located by clicking on the harddrive, applications, network, network utility, and then the ping tab)

a little black window pops open, thats your command prompt

type ping 192.168.1.254 and hit enter on your keyboard

if you dont get replies, then your computer doesn't see the 2wire.

call tech support at 877-722-3755 24/7 for further support if required. We can make sure you nic is config properly, working properly, your not being blocked by a firewall, etc.

First and foremost the TV may or may not require a separate unit called a USB Modem device. If you have a wireless system (Internet) the modem has a PIN number generally on the label attached to the case. If the TV setup feature asks for a PIN just to get it to function under normal conditions, and you cannot find a Label on the back of the TV with a Key Code; then you need to go on line or call Sharp for instructions. A Sharp TV Service technician can help you and guid you through the process of doing the setup procedure.

The network appliance you're asking about is a modem with a wireless router built in. Basically, it's an all-in-one device. It will replace your already existing modem. It is a wise upgrade for any AT&T DSL connection.

It doesn't matter which port your PC is plugged into, the router will take care of that. You need to turn the wireless system on. You do this from inside the routers configuration pages which you access through your browser. Being a 2wire router, you may have to use the software on the 2wire website. Alternatively, you can try entering ip addresses into the browser address window. Try 198.162.1.1 or 198.162.0.1 etc
Once you access the router, turn wireless on and activate the security. Enter a code key and write it down as you will need to enter the same code into every PC or laptop that you wish to use the wireless connection. Setting up the wireless connection on your laptop is easy, just tell the laptop to search for available networks and when it finds the 2wire router, tell it to connect. It will then ask for the code key. Enter it and all should be well.

CAN A 2WIRE DSL ROUTER WORK WITH A CABLE INTERNET CONEECTION

The 2wire dsl modem/router cannot be use with a another cable modem , since this 2wire device is also a modem/router and its made for the DSL conenction that's why it wont work with Cox cable, the best thing that you can do is to ask Cox to give a wireless modem/router like this 2wire so you can still use the wireless connection of your computer..

Hope that helps..........

Can not use the 2wire modem with Iprimus internet.

configure the modem first, go to gateway.2wire.net, run system setup wizard, enter your system password or create a new one thru the gateway recovery password reset, check if you've got the correct keycodes as specified by your ISP, select your time zone, on ppp authentication page enter your username & password for your ISP account, then go to the next page. it will give you a page where it will try to establish a connection on you ISP servers.
