Turn off your incoming cold water to the tankless. (you should probably do the same with your hot water out line just in case). find the black cap that screws sideways into the cold water connection on the bottom of the unit. unscrew the black cap. the filter is supposed to be attached but it almost always comes off. grab a screw driver and stick it in the hole that the black cap was covering. angle it and drag the filter out. you may end up putting a hole in the filter this way but it doesn't matter if you are replacing the filter anyways. once you pull it out make sure you have a little rubber washer on the new filter or else transfer from the old one. the new filter should actually attach itself nicely onto the black cap so once you've removed the old one all you have to do is screw the black cap/filter combo piece back onto the cold water connection and you're done.

I suppose I should mention you will want to have a bucket under the pipes and everything because your unit will empty all the water that was in the unit out of that hole.

SOURCE: Noritz tankless water heater not producing hot water

I called Noritz error code 16 is a overheat problem. Noritz say's to flush your coil with vinegar or CLR.
Use a small pump to recirculate the CLR or vinegar through the system for 45 minutes and flush with fresh water. This worked for me.

SOURCE: Noritz tankless water heater/dishwasher not hot enough to clean

You are doing everything you can. Your dishwasher probably isn't drawing enough hot water to activate the unit so opening the faucet and flowing more water will activate the unit. Just try to adjust the flow from the faucet to a point it, plus the draw from the dishwasher, will activate the unit. This will come with trial and error as I am sure you have already experienced. Also, open the dishwasher when it does get filled and check the water temperature. You might have the unit set at a low discharge temperature. Do you have a touchpad to control the water temperature adjustment?

SOURCE: what is error code 59 on a noritz tankless water

The 59 code is typically caused by insufficient gas supply to the unit. It can also be caused by obstructed exhaust flow, stuck exhaust damper (located directly on top of the unit's exhaust), insufficient makeup air, or improperly installed venting (i.e. too long or too many elbows).

I would recommend initially checking the incoming gas pressure at the gas connection on the unit. The gas pressure should not drop below 5" water column for a natural gas unit, 8" for a propane system (the unit need to be operating at its maximum output).

SOURCE: Water Heater Won't Fire up

There are a few things you'll want to check:
1) make sure you have 120VAC at the outlet
2) measure voltage across the blue/white and black/white wires connected to the gfi (black box inside the unit on the bottom left or right hand side). You should read roughly 100 VAC on both sides. If you don't read voltage on the black/white wire pair, then you gfi is tripped. Look for moisture that might be shorting the gfi.
3) If the GFI checks out ok, you probably have debris clogging your flow sensor

SOURCE: Noritz Tankless error code 16

The trick with these hot water heaters is to keep the filter screen clean and flush the system with CLR periodically. Code 11 is ignition error. Is your gas valve turned on?

How to clear error code 78 on a noritz tankless

For a Noritz tankless water heater, error number 78 indicates a problem with the fan motor. The instructions below will help you clear the problem number 78 on a Noritz tankless water heater:

  1. Turn off the power to the tankless water heater by either disconnecting it or switching off the circuit breaker.
  2. Verify that the fan motor is clear of any obstructions or debris that may be preventing it from operating properly.
  3. Check the fan motor is receiving power by measuring the voltage across the fan leads with a voltmeter. Verify that the electrical connections to the fan motor are secure if there is no voltage.
  4. If the fan motor is broken or not operating properly, it may need to be replaced. For further assistance with the repair or replacement of the fan motor, you can contact Noritz technical support or a certified HVAC specialist.
  5. After resolving the issue with the fan motor, switch off the power to the tankless water heater for at least 30 seconds before turning it back on. This will clear the error code and restore normal operation to the device.
  6. If you are unclear or uncomfortable with any of these processes, you should seek the aid of a certified HVAC specialist or Noritz technical support.

After water to house was shut off, my Noritz tankless water heater is on but won't produce hot water. On the unit, the light indicating that the burner is on stays off now.

you probably had debris get into the filter or flow sensor when the water was turned back on. I'd recommend checking the filter first and if that doesn't work, call Noritz Tech support to help you with the flow sensor.

the filter is a black plug located on the cold water line (labeled cold on the bottom of the unit). It points torwards the left.
