LG RH177 Auto programming does not find Freeview channels

I have a Panasonic TX-32LXD60A tv and a Telewest Active Digital cable box connected to the RH177 recorder but when I run Auto programming it only finds the basic terrestrial channels. The three units are connected with fully wired SCART cables. A rooftop aerial is connected to the RF IN socket of the recorder and a seperate RF cable runs from the RF OUT socket to the TV. The cable input is direct to the RF IN socket on the cable box. The TV has built in Freeview.
Can you help?

Hi I had the same problem. The answer is to use a scart lead on the freeview box and connect it to the input/output scart on the DVD. Then connect a scart lead from the TV out on the DVD to the TV. You then press Video source on the DVD remote until 'scart' is displayed to pick the freeview channels. Hope that helps

SOURCE: connecting LG DVD recorder to cable box and HGTV digitally

Two things come to mind: copy protection and resolution settings.
The TV may not allow copy protected material to come from your LG, or the sampling frequency may be unacceptable. On page 15 of the manual it talks about 96kHz and 48kHz frequency settings. The third thing to check is the vertical resolution using the RES button on the front panel. SDTV is 480, and HDTV is anything above that. Using the HDMI is supposed to allow upconvert to 1080i max if your set can use that resolution.

SOURCE: LG RH266 setup with freeview tv

Sorry to say no it wont not unless the Tv set manuel says it has a Duel Freeview feed , you have to get another freeview box for the recorder .
besides If you used the freview in the tv 1 , the tv would have to be on when you wanted to record ?. and 2 you couldnt watch another channel whilst recording another .. only 1 tuner ?. also you could only record the program you had on .at the time no timer facility .
People are still used to the Old system of VHs and the fact that all videos had tuners built in so you could watch and record .. It will come and indeed some more modern DVD recorder have freeview built in again sorry but thats the facts , and dont forget if you want the pay per view channels on free view your going to need a tuner with a pay card port ... You can try switch scart's!! Then try to record on DVDR or leave as it is and look out for picture on your VCR!!! If you do (B) you will lose a picture quality!

I have an Alba 32880hdf freeview tv. I cannot record freeview programmes to my panasonic NV-FJ 780 vcr which has 2 scart sockets. I have no problem recording the teresteral channels. Can you help pls

Hi Victor,

You can't record the Freeview channels from the TV. It doesn't work that way. The reason you can still record terrestrial channels is because the VCR is still connected to your roof aerial with a co-axial cable and the VCR has its own built-in analogue tuner for recording terrestrial TV programmes.

To record the digital Freeview channels, you will either need to connect a separate Freeview set-top box to the VCR, or buy a VCR which has a built-in digital (DVB-T) tuner.

The VCR does not record programmes from the TV. It needs to be connected directly to the signal source, i.e. your aerial.

If you need any further assistance, please let me know.

BElectric

Panasonic TX P50V10B Plasma TV

In order to get any of the Freesat channels, you need to connect a Satellite dish to your TV. If you have a Sky dish, you simply need to run an extra Cable from the LNB from the dish and connect to your socket on the back of your TV.
In order to get Freeview channels and Analogue channels, you need to connect a aerial to the back of the TV.
There is a menu option for the TV to start straight to the AV input (your Sky HD box). It is Menu > Setup > Other Settings > Power on Preference. Select 'AV' for your TV to start on Sky HD.
Also even if you have your TV to start on TV, when you turn on your Sky HD box, it should automatically switch to the Sky box.

Freeeview update has not allowed BBC1, BBC2 Channel 7 and 8 to be viwed. They have been deleted from the menu on digital. I can get BBC1 and BBC2 on analog.

Make sure all cables are securely connected to your Freeview Box or Freeview TV before you begin

Do a Factory Reset of your Freeview TV and then do a rescan of new channels. If successfull then all channels should be back and working.

Cannot find freeview/digital on our new TV

You can only get the freeview / digital channels through cable by subscribing to a package which includes them. They will then supply the necessary decoder to get the channels. Otherwise you will need a digital aerial and a freeview box if you tv is not dtv ready.

Cable box, digital service, channels not appearing

connect the RF lead from the wall to your cable box then out from that to your dvd then out from your dvd to your tv. now connect a scart lead from the cable box to AV 2 on the DVD then connect AV 1 on the DVD to your TV if you have a second scart on your tv connect that to the cable box. NOW on the DVD select AV2 now whatever is on the cable box will be recorded onto DVD/VCR. Put the DVD recorder into VCR mode and set it to auto tune all the Digital Video Broadcasts. You cannot physically tune the cable boxes own channels into the DVD via RF it has to be via a scart.
