The fridge has stoped workingbut the freezer is fine

I have a combination of problems and am wondering if they are all coming from the same source. basically the fridge stopped working there is no cold mist coming from the freezer compartment. Also the ice machine has stopped working and there is a build up of ice at the botom of the freeze rAt the moment i am defrosting the freezer beacause there is a build up of ice everywhere which i presume means that the defrost controller is faulty ?? so hoping a total defrost might make thiwork again. Hope someone can help, thanks

If it starts working ok after the defrost then you might find it will build up ice again.
There might be a fault with a small device called a thermister that senses the ice build up for the defrost controller.

What most likely is happening is the ice build up freezes the fan that blows the cold air to the fridge compartment.and around the freezer.

SOURCE: bosch frost free fridge freezer not freezing ice cream/pops at all and meat not totally frozen

Sounds like a defrost problem. Check to see if there is any frost buildup in the back wall of the freezer. If so, it is not defrosting as it should.

  • possible causes:
  1. bad defrost timer/board
  2. bad defrost heater (in freezer)
  3. bad thermo switch in freezer
If you don’t know what these are then unplug the machine and let the ice melt in the freezer overnight with the door open. Then try it the next day, if is cooling fine then you need to have a service person replace one of the above items. If it still has a problem then it might be the compressor and you should probably replace the machine.

SOURCE: frost free fridge freezer has

yes,

you have a defrost problem, three things..

one, defrost heater could be bad,

two, bi-metal could be bad,
and three, the timer could be bad.

any of these three items getting bad would result to one symptom.

ice buid up at the bottom of freezer section.

SOURCE: bosch fridge freezer - ice build up and water leak from freezer

Hi,
This is most likely a blocked drain pipe - blocked with ice that is.

Remove all the drawers in the freezer - and stack them up.
With the unit switched off and unplugged, undo the fixings on the rear pannel in the freezer (behind the drawers)
Remove it to see the evaporator coils etc.
At the base there should be a channel - and a hole leading to the drain pipe. This needs unblocking wih a thin flexible cable. -net curtain support wire is ideal, and cheap. or use a short length of insulated cable.
Check it comes out at the rear of the unit onto the evaporator container - situated on top ofthe compressor.
Replace everything and switch on.

SOURCE: Bosch intelligent frost free 88

We have the same and I think it is because the freezer door bounces open when we shut the fridge door. Then the freezer compartment ices up, the fan clogs up with ice and cannot blow cold air into the fridge, and the fridge gets warm and the milk goes off.
Solution? We have bought one of those child safety clips (search for fridge safety clip or lock) to hold the freezer door closed.
Simple design error. Expected better from Bosch :-(

Hi ive hoover hrfa54w fridge freezer just over a year old. Ive noticed freezer is starting to defrost sometimes the freeze again....its in a holiday cottage so often in a very cold ambient temperatur

Ambient temp will cause the thermostat some confusion. There's probably nothing wrong with the fridge, my freezer doesn't like being in the outhouse. Only alternative is only switch on when you are there or move it to a cupboard where you could put a low output source of heat just enough to keep it happy. Then get it out when you are there?

My 9 yr old Kenmore Elite fridge is warming up!! The freezer is fine!!!! Model 3 106*74902401 Seriel # ES423704 Manufacture date is 10/2005, I purchased it in Dec of '05 and it's been WONDERFUL!!

This problem sounds like a damper control broken or frozen.
Lowering the freezer temperature may help to fix the problem as the damper sometimes freezes and not able to open to cool down the fridge side.

If lowering the freezer temperature doesn't help, you may need to call for a technician to fix or replace the damper control.

Also, be sure the door closes properly and no air comes in or out from the fridge.

Fridge thermostat appears to have failed. Freezer

The fridge gets its cold air from the freezer through a vent(damper) between the freezer and fridge. The fan in the freezer blows air through it. There is a flap you adjust with the fridge temp. control. Make sure it's opening and closing when you adjust the fridge temp.
The problem could be the electronic control if you have one or the mechanical linkages.

Lynx fridge freezer the freezer is working the fridge has stopped

check if there are frost at the back of the freezer wall, if there is then you have a defrost issue.

if not, check the vents if air is coming out on the fridge side. close the freezer door, press the door switch on the fridge side and feel the air. if there is no air, the evaporator fan could be shut.

if there is little air, check the vent, insert a small rigid wire, push the vent or flapper open and make the air stronger. you have a vent controll problem.

if there are ice in the vent, thaw it out and hope it won't freeze again.

Freezer is working fine but the fridge has stoped workin the model number is enb5289x

I was unable to locate your specific model number but the following rules apply. The usual cause of this is a blockage in the air flow from the freezer to the fridge side.

1. Possible stick baffle valve. This a the vent that allows air to enter at the top of the fridge from the freezer. Check it for obstruction. Alternately if the return vent is blocked the same problem will occur.

2. a defrost problem will cause the air circulation to stop. This can usually be seen by a large amount of frost build up on the back wall of the freezer. This will require a more thorough diagnosis as the circuit contains several parts which could fail.

3. Bad circulation fan. This will not force the air to circulate causing a warm fridge and a cold freezer.
