Fill with clean water to fill line. Have base plugged in. Place kettle on base and press down button on top of handle. Water should boil quickly and turn off automatically when done.

I wish I could help, but unfortunatly there are no parts that can be purchased for this kettle, I would expect that TEFAL has a propriatary hold on these and you can only get them through TFAL. I would try e-bay and I will keep looking, but for some time now I have found no parts available.
