SOURCE: I have suddenlink cable and my phone is through

on an arris modem, if the telephone light is solid, then there is dial tone coming into the modem. that means the problem is somewhere in the house wiring. check to make sure the phone line is plugged into line 1 on the back of the modem. next make sure it is plugged into the wall jack. if this is correct then you need the cable co to come out and troubleshoot your inside wiring. as a quick fix, you can plug your phone into the jack on the back of the modem labled line 1/2

SOURCE: We are currently running Comcast

There's a reset button on the back of the modem. It'll power cycle it. That should work and if it doesn't make sure everything is connected and tightened.

PK5001 solid red DSL light

The trick I found for this is amazingly simple. Take the phone line out from your DSL modem and plug your phone line temporarily into an antique regular telephone for a second, check that it has a dial tone, and plug it back into your DSL modem. Your red light should go green in a minute after plugging the phone line back in. If you leave your computer idle too long, I think the phone company senses no activity and kills the connection after a few dead minutes, and the signal gets booted into some electronic alley. Also put tinfoil over your splice connectors as they leak signals that totally confuse your modem. Never leave any bare wires, I tinfoil the entire modem to prevent the neighbors from hacking me. I don't use wireless, only CAT5 ethernet cable.

Cannot connect to my Internet. On my 2Wire modem at home, The Power LED light is solid green, the Ethernet LED light is green, the DSL LED light is continually flashing, and there is NO Internet LED...

With the DSL light always flashing, it means that either the ADSL signal (synchronization) does not reach your modem, or your modem cannot 'read' the signal.

You need to determine if the problem is from one of the following places :
  • outside of your house (your land line or ISP equipment) or from the modem;
  • your telephone-cable inside your house or
  • one of your equipment;

Try the following manipulations to determine from where the default comes :

  1. Determine if the problem is in your house or on the land line
    • Unplug each and every equipment which is connected to your telephonic installation (Fax, phones, answering machines etc);
    • Using the shortest telephone cable (RJ11) you possess, plug only your modem to the main telephone jack of your house.
    • If the DSL LED still flashes continuously, the problem is somewhere between your ISP's equipment and your house. You should call them and expose the situation. At this stage, you can't do much else.

  2. Determine if the problem is in your house installation
    If the DSL LED lights up when it is plugged to the main telephone jack, then it is either one of your equipment which is at fault, or the house installation. To pinpoint the problem, do the following :
    • With all the other equipment still unplugged, try the modem on all the other telephone jacks you have around the house.
    • If the DSL flashes continuously on one of the jacks, you will have found the source of your miseries. Depending on your ISP's terms and conditions, you will either have to call them of call for the services of a third-party technician to solve the problem.
    • If the DSL lights up correctly on all the telephone jacks, then your house telephone installation is good. Proceed to the next series of tests.

  3. Determine which equipment is at fault
    • Plus your modem to one telephone jack and wait for the DSL line to light solid.
    • Use a splitter (ADSL filter) to plug the equipments you possess (telephone, fax etc) one by one. Verify each time if the DSL LED is still lit or flashes continuously.
    • If one of the equipment causes the DSL LED to flash, it is that equipment which causes your problem.
    • If every equipment causes the DSL LED to flash, the it is the splitter (ADSL filter) which is causing the problem. You can confirm this hypothesis by testing each and every ADSL filter you have in your possession.
    • Replace any faulty equipment and you should have eliminated the problem.
If nothing of this solves your problem, you won't have any choice but call you ISP. Don't hesitate to tell them all tests you will have done.

May I also make some recommendations :
  1. Use a power surge protector (not a UPS though) to plug your modem to the electric outlet BUT plug it directly to the telephone jack;
  2. Make sure your modem is plugged in as far as possible from UPS, television, etc.;
  3. If possible, don't plug the modem in the same electric outlet as other equipments;
  4. Don't use any telephone extension cable to plug your modem to the telephone jack.

Hope this helps you. Let me know what happens next.

Hi sorry about the chat session the other day, i was not able to see your chat message so I end the session, but to help you with your concern, since internet is already working, then the problem here is the VoIP settings on your modem (since you said it has phone ports on the modem), usually resetting the modem wont change the VoIP (Voice over IP) settings. It would be better if you ask you VoIP provider to check if the modem's VoIP settings is setup correctly. If yes, and you have internet with the modem then upgrading the firmware may help.

If you dont have a VoIP provider then you need to get one in order for the phone line to work.

If you already have one, then contact them so they can configure the VoIP settings on that modem.Get your money's worth with their service

Siemens gigaset se587 wlan dsl

HI

A flashing ADSL light on the router means its not getting constant broadband signals. Make sure it is connected to the adsl filter without any extensions and the filter should be directly connect to the main phone socket and not to an extension socket. Also check if the phone socket has 1 or more than 1 ports on it. If it has two port its most likely a SSFP socket which does not require a filter as it is inbuit.If all the connections are fine try changing da filter.

If the internet light is not on that indicates a prob with your ISP, call them up and arrange a service call. I had a similar prob a few weeks ago and they had to replace the drop to the house from the telephone pole.

Wiring Problems
If the Telephony Modem begins flashing all its lights for more than 10 seconds, this indicates a problem
with the telephone wiring — the red and green wires may be shorted (touching), or there may
be undesired voltage on the lines. If this pattern persists for more than 10 seconds, disconnect the
telephone lines from the Telephony Modem, then call a wiring technician for assistance.

2701HG-B

Hi. I will not repeat the check the phone line and resetting comments as it's now redundant.

I always have a spare modem as a line tester.

I've seen several 2700HG-B 2wire modem/routers burn out and every single time it's the DSL signal or modem portion that is burnt out. Even if you have two or three phone line surge protectors these 2700s are prone to shorting out unless you have a direct signal splitter DSL setup.

Here are a few things you can try to confirm if the 2700 is no longer functional on the DSL signal light problem.

#1: Turn on (plug in) your 2700 without the phone line plugged in and wait. If the DSL starts flashing red then there is a hardware problem in the modem/router.

#2: Plug the phone line into the 2700 while the dsl light is flashing red. It might take about 3 seconds however it should start to flash green and let it flash for about (usually) three minutes. If it turns red then the 2700 is indeed damaged.

#3: If you can enter into your modem using the http://2wire... and check the connection status. The first two status lines should read attempting to connect and no connection.
