I have a Nikon L24. I do not have the cd needed to install the software so I went to the Nikon site and downloaded the software needed to transfer my pics from my camera to my computer. I hook my camera up to the computer and still nothing. I'm not able to hook memory card up to computer. Any suggestions on how I can get my pics?

ALTERNATE WAY TO TRANSFER PHOTOS AND VIDEOS TO A COMPUTER
If your photos and videos are stored on the memory card, then remove the memory card from the camera and insert it into an USB memory card reader. Connect this USB memory card reader and memory card into the USB port of your working computer. Your computer will see this as an USB Mass Storage Device or an external storage device; you can then open the folder on the memory card and copy the photos to your computer. Memory card reader is a handy device and is inexpensive. You can copy photos from other cameras and you can also download photos off your memory card to someone else's computer without the need of installing any programs.

SOURCE: Nikon coolpix 4600: How to transfer pictures from camera to card?

ok I figured out how to do it! put the memory card into the camera, then go to view the pictures. Then press the menu button and scroll until you see the copy button. Then you will see the option to copy from camera to card, or card to camera. Press the option to copy from camera to card and press select all....(or whichever pictures you want copied...I wanted all pictures copied). Then voila! it takes a few seconds to copy from the camera to the card, and there you have it! :)

SOURCE: coolpix s220 won't transfer pics via usb cable

If you can get the pics using a card reader, why are you insisting on using the camera and USB cord? Pros always use a card reader.

Hi arunpeiyi,

Yes the software would work in your Windows 7 Operating System.

All you need to do , is install the software from the nikon CD and then connect your camera to your PC along with the Data cable , and there you go , you would have all your images and videos being shown up on your PC.

Hope this helps..:) Let me know in case you have any queries.

You can download the current versions of Nikon software from Nikon's web site at http://support.nikontech.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/61

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive.

There are also plenty of photo catalog software packages out there, some free, some not, that can transfer and catalog your pictures so you can quickly find pictures from Susie's birthday party, for example. Just do a google search for "photo catalog software". Nikon Transfer and Nikon ViewNX will perform those functions.

How do i transfer my movies from my nikon coolpix to a cd or dvd

Open up an Explorer window (Windows-key + E) and explore the CD. There may be a separate video folder. It's possible the store failed to transfer videos.

You shouldn't need additional software; Windows Media Player should be able to play the videos. The current version of Nikon ViewNX certainly can. If you don't already have Nikon ViewNX, you can download it from http://support.nikontech.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/61
