Error 51 HP 4Plus laserjet printer just stopped and error 51 appeared cartridge replaced replaced repair kit

Unfortunately, it appears that a part replacement may be necessary, and HP did not suggest a customer could perform that repair themselves.

Due to faulty cartridge streaks appearing on paper/ITB. Take 4 cartridges out,check each cartridge drum surface for streaks,replace the faulty cartridge/s..

Install a maintenance kit.
Get all the feed rollers, transfer roller and fuser replaced.
Your printer will love you for it.

1. Reseat the cartridge. Try a new or know good cartridge. If OK, stop.

2. Check the Hi Volt contacts on the cartridge for damage. If the contacts are dirty or damaged, clean the contacts after the repair.(This is especially important if the cartridge is recycled.) If OK, stop.

Before going further, evaluate the cost effectiveness.

3. Replace the Hi Volt Power Supply. If OK, stop.

4. Check and reseat the HVPS cable

5. Replace th DC controler

errors in the 51 range are laser scanner errors, it's saying either the laser is out or the scanner motor is not turning, or not turning fast enough. A good shop repair.

Get a new printer.

Serious if it is happening repeatedly and it is not because of corrupt data like a bad file being sent to it, then tis biga buckas any way you go, replacing the laser or the Main Control Board. From your description it will be laser, laser units wear out because inside is a little motor working real hard and eventually they wear out or main board the brains behind the operation has lost the plot

A temporary printing error has occurred. The page containing the error will automatically be reprinted. If the error persists:
1. Reseat the connections to the laser scanner and then to the engine controller board.
2. Replace the laser scanner.
3. Replace the engine controller board.

According to the HP LaserJet 4 plus service guide. Your error code of 57.1 indicates the following;
1) The printer's gears are siezed
2) The DC controller or main motor is defective.

The cartridge itself needs to be replaced, threre is a blade called the drum cleaning blade which scrapes toner off the Drum(blue roller) it is not cleaning the excess toner.
