My D2X is behaving very strangely... it had been working perfectly up until this morning; when I tried to use it I could only take 15 images before it refused to take any more. I thought that it was maybe a memory card issue and switched the camera off although I couldn't actually get it to power down until I removed the battery. On reviewing the images it told me that the 'File does not contain image data'. More in hope than anything else I then tried an alternative battery and lens and I noticed that until I actually took an image I could power off and on the camera but then it would only let me take the 15 images again, and wouldn't power off again. Also, when I tried to read the memory card to see what had been recorded it was blank.

Get on to Nikon and let them know about it, it is a common problem with the S4. They are fixing the 3500 and others for free. John.

Try a new SD card. SD cards do fail.
The socket inside the camera maybe no good - bad connections.
The camera may have liquid damage - this causes all kinds of weird issues.
I try the cards in my computer reader. If they can be used all day there (I load and unload stuff randomly all day to test and then put the card in a drawer for a few days and check what I loaded later), the fault is likely the camera.
