Is this a new machine, old machine, serviced recently??
Here is my regular checklist for stitching issues:
Change the needle and pick the right size for the fabric you are sewing, or ball point for stretch fabrics.
What thread are you using? good quality cotton wrapped polyester is good, Sylko Supreme, Metrosene, or Gutermann are all good brands.
Wind a fresh bobbin and keep tension on the thread spool and nudge the thread going onto the bobbin to ensure a neat even fill at consistent tension.
Clean out the rotary hook area and give it an oil. Clean between the tension discs on the top tension dial by turning down to zero to open up and running the edge of a piece of clean fabric waste between the discs.
Now check your bobbin tension, is it a front loading bobbin and bobbin case like the Brothers? If so, do the dangle test where you hang the bobbin by the loose end and see if it dangles, ie enough tension to hold the bobbin's weight, but will also release thread if you give it a gentle pull. If not, gently turn the tension screw on the bobbin case down a bit and try again.
Set top tension to the middle number on your machine. Now thread again paying attention to ensure the thread path is clear, raise the thread aerial if there is one, the thread is under tension in the bobbin correctly, and the top thread is also under tension when the pressure foot is lowered.
Set stitch length to 2.5. Now test sew, holding the two thread tails back out of the way as you start. Look at the stitch formation and adjust the tensions if it still looks too tight.
You can get lots of general info on
