Each time I print on plain paper the paper feeds into the machine and when it hits pinch rollers after the print head, the top right hand corner is turned over. Two pages later and the third page is so mangled that the paper jams in the machine. How can I resolve this please? I have an Epson Stylus SX600FW printer Thank you.

    Hi d2704

I did what you have suggested. Also, I checked the grey spongy profile, removed it, cleaned it, and replaced it exactly as before. Hey presto! It works!

Many thanks for your prompt reply!

I get plain paper or double when I received fax from my uf5300 laser fax.it print one page from 5 pages that sent and I got empty pages and double somtimes

Paper feed rollers and sheet feed pad dirty. Feed roller on top pad should be just below. Clean with alcohol. Papers have clay in them. Recycled is worst. It will glaze the pick up roller and pad.

Lexmark s605 paper jamming

Sounds like an obstruction on the right hand side of the feed mechanism. All-in-ones are a pig to find these - I've had one HP almost completely stripped before I found a chad of plastic stuck in a corner. Nine times out of ten it's a torn corner of the first bit of paper to get chewed jammed in the feed slot.

Desk Jet 970Cse professional series will not pick up the paper to print...

Over a period of time, the friction rollers (rubber rollers that grab the paper and feed it through the machine) build up residue, usually dust, and this grime makes the rollers too slick to work properly. Remove the cover of the machine, or just open the top cover if it leaves you adequate access to the rollers, then, using Q-tips and some plain rubbing alchohol (light amount) clean the surface of the rollers. Let them air dry, then see if this improves the tackiness of their surface enough to grab the paper and feed it again.

Paper won't feed

Inside of the machine is dirty.
If the inside of the machine is dirty, the printed paper may be smudged.
Follow the steps described below to clean the inside of the machine.
1. Ensure that the machine is turned on and there is no paper loaded in the Auto Sheet Feeder.
2. Place A4/Letter-sized plain paper in landscape orientation, horizontally fold it in half.
3. Unfold the paper, and load the paper in the Auto Sheet Feeder with the inverted-V edge down.

4. Select <Bottom plate cleaning> from <Maintenance>.
5. Select <Yes> on the Bottom plate cleaning confirmation screen and then press [OK].
Paper will be ejected.
If protrusions inside the machine are stained, wipe ink off the protrusions using a swab or such like.
* Important
Before cleaning, be sure to turn OFF the machine.
Paper feed roller is dirty.
Follow the steps described below to clean the paper feed rollers.
1. Ensure that the machine is turned ON and there is no paper loaded in the machine.
2. Select <Roller cleaning> from <Maintenance>.
3. Select <Yes> on the Roller cleaning confirmation screen and then press [OK].
The paper feed roller will rotate as it cleans.
4. Repeat this operation twice.
5. Load three or more sheets of A4/Letter-sized plain paper lengthways in the Auto Sheet Feeder.
6. Select <Roller cleaning> from <Maintenance>.
7. Select <Yes> on the Roller cleaning confirmation screen and then press [OK].
The paper that is loaded in the machine will feed through the machine and be ejected.
8. Repeat Steps 5 to 7 three times.
Inappropriate paper type is used.
Check to see if the paper you are printing on is too thick. See Paper Types You Cannot Use.
Note that smudging may occur at the top and bottom edges of the paper when using Borderless Printing. Ensure that the paper you are using is compatible with Borderless Printing.
Thick paper is used.
When printing on thick paper, set the Paper Thickness Lever to the right.
This widens the gap between the FINE Cartridge and the paper. Try this maneuver if the printed surface is scratched.
Media is curled.
If all four corners or the printing surface of the paper is curled, the paper may become dirty or may not feed properly. Use the paper after correcting paper curl as follows.
1. Place the printing surface face up (A), and cover it with a sheet of non-printing regular paper to avoid damaging the surface.
2. Roll up the paper in the direction opposite to the paper curl as per the figure below.
3. Check the printing paper to confirm if the paper curl is eliminated to within approximately 2 to 5mm / 0.08 to 0.2 in (B).
It is recommended to print on curl-corrected paper one sheet at a time.
The media type is not selected correctly in the printer driver.
On the [Main] tab of the printer driver, ensure that the [Media Type] selected matches the paper loaded.

In the [Print] dialog box of the printer driver, select [Quality & Media] from the pop-up menu, and then ensure that the [Media Type] selected matches the paper loaded.
Paper is loaded incorrectly.
Load in the portrait orientation regardless of the print direction of the Auto Sheet Feeder.
Ensure that paper is loaded correctly. Slide the paper guides against the paper stack.

"paper-feed error"

Had the same problem with mine, very intermittent. Remove all the paper and open the feed tray lid so you can get access to the three grey pinch rollers. Start printing then push on the roller with your finger to try and 'rough it up' (if it clicks you are pressing too hard).

The fault appears to be that the pinch rollers are loosing their grip and can not pull the glossy paper through. I dare say using a mild washing up liquid solution would be better but this is a safe quick fix.

Did this to mine and it has worked fine ever since.

Paper jam

The print roller can be turned by hand but do not move the print head by head to the left or right -just make the roller turn either way. Try line feeds first. Steve Medley

Can't Print on Card

I had the same problem with my 3 year old HP Officejet 5610. Feeding heavy paper or white card stock would result in a paper jam. The card stock would start to feed, but then stop half way. The pinch rollers seemed to spin without advancing the paper, even if the paper was fed one sheet at a time.

Solution: Clean the rubber pinch rollers with isopropyl rubbing alcohol. Partial disassembly/reassembly required.

To access the rollers, remove the scanner plate:
1. Disconnect power, USB, and phone cables.
2. Open up the scanner sheet feeder by tilting it left.
3. Unlatch the scanner scanner feeder so that it opens completely vertical. Latch is on front hinge only.
4. Remove the 4 corner hex screws on the scanner plate. Remove the 2 hex screws on the sheet feeder. (I used a small flat blade screw driver in the hex heads)
4. Lift the plate and sheet feeder away from printer box. Disconnect the 2 flat cable wires from the circuit board.
5. Scrub rubber pinch rollers with alcohol on a swab. Dry thoughly.
6. Reassemble. (NOTE: This is a good time to clean the underside of the glass plate and the scanner head)

Paper will not feed correctly, keeps jamming up.

There IS something stuck in the feed path. If the paper starts to feed and then crinkles on the feed side, there is an object stopping the paper moving forward.

Lay the machine on it's back and take a sheet of very stiff card (A5 size approx) and push it through the paper path in reverse. So start where the paper would normally exit and push the card in. You may need to lift the pinch rollers just behind the print head by hand to aid the card through. Keep the card to the side that would normally crinkle but beware of the paper sensor flag. If you force it you could break it off.

Once you get past the pinch rollers behind the print head, push a little further then start to move the card in and out but along the length of the rollers. You should find that sufficient to push out whatever is in the path and having the machine on it's back will help it fall clear of the feed mechanism.

If it does not fall out using this method you will have to remove the covers and try to remove the ASF to get at the object.
