    Suggest you get that done well before taking it off the boat trailer! Barring that, get some good twine at your local hardware store and use that with the cowl off.

SOURCE: 140hp johnson seahorse tilt will raise the motor

it needs fluid added. had a 70 johnson do the same, I saw no leaks but it was low on fluid, put some in and have had noproblems yet.

Hi, make sure you are using a genuine pin and if so check the back of the prop where the pin sits for wear, regards Phil.

24/1 is the correct ratio. I certainly wouldn't go 50/1 but you could split the difference with a good synthetic.

Well, Johnson is out of business decades ago, so if you want to keep the old piece of junk, head on over to any Johnson junkyard or used parts place you can find and ask them if they have one. if not, ask if they will give you $5 bucks for yours, probably about what it is worth.

You have got to be kidding. There is hardly any wiring on a 1957 Johnson. If it is not electric start look at a 1972 6 hp, same wiring.

Is there a neutral switch on a johnson 4 hp seahorse motor. The prop is always turning when started
If it is like my Evenrude 4hp 'light twin' the answer is no. These motors are nick named 'pull and go'. Before you start the motor besure to get the boat pointed in the direction you want to go.
