What does the flashing flow sensing arrow mean on a Kenmore Elite steam dryer front loading Mod-592??

The flashing flow sensing arrow on a Kenmore Elite steam dryer with the model number 592 typically indicates an issue with the dryer's airflow. This arrow symbol is associated with the dryer's flow sensing feature, which detects and monitors the airflow during the drying process.
When the arrow is flashing, it suggests that there may be a restriction or blockage in the dryer's vent system. This restriction can cause poor airflow, leading to longer drying times and potentially reduced drying performance.
To troubleshoot this issue, you can take the following steps:
  1. Check the dryer's lint filter: Make sure the lint filter is clean and free from debris. A clogged or dirty lint filter can restrict airflow.
  2. Inspect the venting system: Check the dryer's exhaust vent hose and ensure it is properly connected and not kinked or obstructed. Additionally, check the external vent to ensure it is clear of any debris or obstructions.
  3. Clean the venting system: If you haven't done so recently, it's recommended to clean the entire venting system. This involves disconnecting the dryer from the vent and thoroughly cleaning both the vent hose and the external vent.
If after performing these steps the issue persists and the arrow continues to flash, it may be necessary to contact a professional appliance technician or the manufacturer's customer support for further assistance. They will be able to provide specific troubleshooting steps and recommendations for your Kenmore Elite steam dryer model.

The F30 code is a false code. It does not mean anything. The dryer will work fine. When I worked for Whirlpool, this was a programming issue. I owned the same dryer. It displayed this code and engineers explained this to me. The dryer worked fine.

I have a Kenmore Elite Dryer model number 417.81100003 I have replaced the Heating Element, the Inlet Thermal Limiter, the High Limit Thermostat, and today the Circuit Board!!! I'm still getting a CE Error...

Ce suggests a venting problem. Make sure venting is clear from inside dryer to outside. This may require taking dryer apart and cleaning ventilation areas in and around filter and blower area and chutes.

The dryer heats up but does not dry the clothes completely.

Hi and welcome to FixYa, I am Kelly.
If your dryer cabinet is feeling very wam to the touch and your clothes are not drying properly it is always caused by poor air flow problems.
Here are steps you should to attempt to get it working normally again:
1. Pull out the lint filter
a. Inspect the cavity where the lint filter was (use a flashlight). Make sure there is not lint build-up under the lint filter. Use a folded wire coat hanger and a vacuum with a crevice tool to remove any lin in this area.
b. Wash the lint filter with vinegar and water then soap and water. Fabric sheet particulate builds up on the lint filter. It will appear clean but can still be almost completely blocked.
2. Remove / dis-connect the vent duct from the back of the dryer.
a. Turn on the dryer briefly and check air-flow. The air-flow should push a relaxed hand gently away from the immediate area of the vent duct connection. If you do not have good air-flow here you must inspect the internal ducting of the dryer for restrictions. Use the folded wire hanger and a vacuum to remove any debris from the internal duct vent ducting.
3. Inspect the ducting from the rear of the dryer all the way through and OUTSIDE the home. The vent flapper outside the home is most often one of the primary reasons for poor airflow. Clear the lint from both sides of the metal flapper outside the home.
4. Lastly if after doing all of the above you still have poor air-flow the most likely failure is the blower wheel attached to the motor shaft. Either there is a problem with the fan blades or the center hub has failed allowing the blower wheel to spin on the end of the motor shaft.

A final comment... when you think you have the internal dryer ducting clean.. start over cleaning again for a 2nd cleaning. I cannot tell you how many times I have performed in-home service and the customer said they had done all of the above yet when I clean the same ducting I can fill a 5 gal SHOP-VAC 50% full with the lint they did not remove.

Clothes dryer velocity has slowed down to point that clothes do not dry. Thank you very much. Paul J.

Hi Paul and welcome to FixYa. I am Kelly. When you say velocity I am assuming we are talking about airflow and not the tumble speed. There are 2 things that cause poor air flow.
1. Lots of lint build up either inside the dryer or in the output vent ducting expecially at the outside thru the wall vent flapper.
2. The blower wheel on the drive motor has a damaged center hub and is spinning on the motor shaft vs driving at full speed.

Pull out the lint filter use a flashlight and look in the very bottom area of the lint filter air passage. This area is notorious for lint accumulation. If you note lint use a vacuum crevice tool and a wire coat hanger folded into a U shape to reach deep into the passages so that you can use the crevice tool to remove the lint.

The lint filter itself can cause restricted airflow. If you use dryer sheets (Fabric softener) these over time accumulate a mirco particulate on them that when you wipe off the lint it appears clean but the air passages are clogged with the dryer sheet material. Wash the lint filter with vinegar and water using a brush, then soap and water.

Next go outside and check the thru the wall exhaust of the dryer vent. Reach up inside the flapper and check both sides of the flapper for lint build up. Clean as needed.

Disconnect the vent ducting at the back of the dryer. Start the dryer. The airflow commig out the back should gently push a relaxed hand away from the exhaust hole. If the air flow is weak use a flash light and look deep into the vent ducting inside the dryer checking for lint build up. Clean thoroughly.

If after doing all of the above you still have weak airflow then the blower wheel area is suspect in the form of either a damaged blower wheel or lint build up at the blower housing exit.

Give it a good cleaning and see what happens. If you sitll have air flow problems there is more I can do to help you with pictures and how to dis-assemble the dryer. Just repsond here and I will gladly help you.

Thanks for choosing FixYa.

I have a kenmore electric dryer model #110.63032102 and have to send our clothes through twice before they dry.

Hi and welcome to FixYa. I am Kelly

If your are sure the dryer is heating then there are a few things you muct check.

1. First of all remove the lint filter.
a. Inspect all of the air passages around the lint filter for lint build up.
CLEAN with a vacuum and crevice tool
b. Wash the lint filter with vinegar and water then soap and water. If you have been using dryer sheets in the dryer the material fromthe fabric softener sheets cakes onto the filter. The filter appears clean but will not allow good air flow through the dryer.
c. Remove the vent ducting from the back of the dryer. Clean out all of the ducting inside the dryer that you can reach. If you have to use a folded wire coat hanger to remove the lint in the dryer along witht he crevice tool.
d. Continue to clean the exit ducting on the house side of the ducting all the way to the wall exit. Go outside inspect and clean the vent flapper on the outside of the house.
e. After doing all of steps a - d above. While the vent is disconnected from the dryer start the dryer and check for a strong HOT air flow from the dryer vent exit hole. If there is not a strong HOT air flow there is still a problem with lint build up or the blower fan impeller is loose / broken on the motor output shaft.

Everything listed above assumes that the dryer is still heating. If the dryer is not heating then respond here and we can go from there.

My kenmore 80 series dryer doesn't dry. What should I check? It runs fine and heats up but the clothes are still wet

Whnn a dryer is hot but does not dry the clothes it is a very good indication that the dryer vent, ducting and or internal air passages are clogged with lint build up. Also if you use dryer sheets the lint filter itself can appear clean but actually be clogged up with the softener material from the dryer sheets.

Clean all of the air ducts and passages with a crevice tool. Pull the lint filter and clean UNDER and around the lint filter. Make sure to go outside and remove any lint build up from the vent flapper. Pull the lint filter and wash it with white wine vinegar and a soft brush on BOTH sides. For some of the hard to reach areas a folded un half coat hanger works great for losening lint in those areas. DO NOT use anything sharp.

The dryer needs loads of air moving through the ducts to work properly. You may feel air movement but it should be a very high volume air flow. After a good thorough cleaning your dryer should return to normal operation.

Kenmore Elite HE4 does not dry the cloths all the way.

if dryer is filled with lint or vent line is blocked the clothes will not dry correctly, shop vac is great for this it sucks and blows, vac out what you can see and then blow out the lint from back and on motor, clean out the lint duct, where ever you pull out your lint filter either on top or inside dryer you have to clean out the duct.now go outside and check the flapper,if it isn't blowing open or hardly opening i use a leaf blower and take off the vent line from the back of dryer and blow it out, good luck
