I have a honda accord U.S waggon 1993. It has a f22 engine.
the oil light intermitantly flashes on and off. it does not go every time you start the car. could this be a faulty sensor or is it more likely to be the pump? i have checked the oil level and it is ok.

If it's the S model, it *should* as it has a F22 motor in it.. the Si and SE has a H23 motor, and the VTEC has a H22 motor. I have heard of people using the F22 transmission on a Prelude motor for longer gearing at highway speeds (per Honda-Tech.com), but I haven't tried the combination myself
Honda does not recommend flushing the transmission. Simply drain it and add the correct Honda (or Honda Approved Import Transmission Fluid) according to your manual. Let it heat up and with the brakes on, run it through all of the gears. Keep checking the level according to your manual. Are there other symptoms, check engine light, D light flashing, S light flashing, etc?
there is always the possibility that you really have low oil pressure when you get this light, at idle the engines oil pump produces the least pressure and if there are problems then that is when it shows up, so have the oil pressure tested by a shop with a mechanical test gage, if the oil pressure is within spec then replace the oil pressure light sending unit on the engine, I don't recommend you drive this until u are sure of the pressure, u can SEVERELY damage the engine is the pressure is really low.
If the drive light flashes there COULD be a trans problem. The Ck Engine light and the D4 light are on for the same reason. Take it to a qualified repair shop to have it checked out. Find a shop that regularly works on HONDA and not some chain store operation.
10 psi minimum at idle and 50psi at 3000 rpm are needed for the light to be off. If you have this check for a bad ground wire and reset the CEL. Good luck...i hope this helps
A green flashing "S" is similar to a check engine light. It is telling you that something in or on your transmission is not functioning correctly, such as the speed sensor or shift control solenoids. If it starts flashing and the speedometer stops working or the transmission shifts weird, take it to a mechanic.
