Where does cable go at top

These are very expensive units, a little overpriced. If the self propelling system isn't working, see if the cable is actually disengaging the self propelling clutch, if it is and there is still no movement, the trans is shot and the way you fix that unfortunately is to buy a new transmission gear box. Save money and do it yourself if your kinda handy.... Go onto you tube, search for self propelling transmission replacement and you will have a few to choose from. If you are going to take it to a shop, be prepared to pass out when they give you the estimate for the parts and labor. Maybe you will get lucky and it's just the cable which is a very easy fix and the cable shouldn't run ya more than 20 to.25 bucks. BUT get a Toro part no aftermarket! !

The drive belt is off the pulley, you will need to check under the deck and possibly remove the cover on top of deck to put it back on.

Toro 20016 self propelled walk behind when the wheels are engaged it moves, when the wheels are not engaged, the wheels look up.
What should I do to fix the problem

how do you change the self propelled cable on Toro Model 20005 22 " recycler. Can't figure out how to remove the plastic black cover the cable goes under

My Toro Pace Master self propelled 22" 6.75 mower will not move by itself. I can push the mower and cut. It does start with no problem. I have a cable on left side of the mower that extends to the top of the handle broken off at the top of the mower and is loose. Is there a way to check to see if this is why it will not self propel. It attaches to the push handle that does I push down to propel the mower. Any suggestions?

It may just be a matter of adjusting the cable. Sometimes they dont get them adjusted just right from the factory,heres what you do. Locate the plastic shroud in front of the push mower that covers the drive unit.Determine which screwdriver or torx bit is needed to remove shroud and remove it. After removal you will see a pulley with belt around it, as you pull the handle back to engage self propel you should see the pulley move into the belt to put tension on the belt. You can do this with it running to see if enough tension is being put on the belt,if not, locate the cable end where the small bracket holds the cable in place. Loosen the cable bracket and move cable until you have correct tension again,hope this helps.

Try adjusting your self propel cable. A slight extension of the cable (1/4 inch) will double speed, so do a little at a time. Take the back guard off and clean debris 2 or 3 screws and it is just a cover so nothing will pop out unless that is your real problem. You should have grease fittings behind rear wheels so squirt 2 times with grease gun in each wheel and 1 squirt every 3rd mow.

check cable.check belt and check gearbox.one of these will be bad.if not all

Either the cable that engages it is broke or the belt that drives it is broke.
