We appologize for the inconvenience, but WIndows did not start successfully. A recent software or hardware change may have caused this. If your computer stopped responding, restarted unexpectedly or was automatically shutdown to protect your files and folders, choose Last Known Good Configuration to revert to the most recent settings that worked. If a previous startup attempt was interrupted due to a power failure or because the Power or Reset button was pressed, or if you aren't sure what caused the problem, choose Start Windows Normally.
Safe Mode Safe Mode with Networking Safe Mode with Prompt Command Last Know Good Configuration ( your most recent settings that worked) Start WIndows Normally
Use the up and down arrow keys to move the highlight to your choice. Seconds until windows starts: 30
**Each selection was highlighted and attempt. Each attempt resulted in the Windows Icon appearing then returing back to the screen with the above directions. Also I tried pressing the rescue and recovery butoon (F11) and the same result occured.

Try to perform full restart, press power button down until computer shuts down (+5 seconds). Then try to restart it. If repair function is offered, do not select that, select "start up windows normally".
Try safe mode.
If that works, there is a card or software that has failed.
Checking the cards is easy, take them out one at a time and restart, for motherboard features, shut them down one at a time.
For software, did you load anything new, even updates, if so remove them.
Mine turned out to be a bad PCI card for a scanner.
you have to navigate the screen with the arrows and press enter on the option to select it......i would recommend starting up windows in safe mode just incase, let it load, then restart your system by selecting restart in windows.....now all should be fine!! :D
Pls rate this post and let me know if that was what you needed!! :D
How old is the laptop? You may have suffered one of two things? First of all, if the hard drive will not boot back up, even after using the recovery discs, then that would explain it powering off. I have seen this happen on old desktop hard drives.
Next, try to get the transformer or adapter tested. It may not be putting out enough amperage to run the laptop.
boot up holding f8 key load last known good configuration. your computer should not know jack about the battery. but with computers you can never tell they are finikey
Restart in Safe Mode (Option 1 on the list) - when you get back on the desktop - uninstall the last you installed before the crash.
If you cannot get back on - locate the Recovery CD, put it in the drive and reboot from it. See if it will give you the choice to reinstall Windows in a NON-DESTRUCTIVE method.
