Auto channel search finds only one analog and no digital. Cable from cable box hooked directly into tv.

SOURCE: rca 46 inch lcd tv, no sound

Go into the menu and change the HDMI Audio settings - the manual will give you a breakdown on this. HDMI is a little glitchy - if you were using red/gree/blue cables before switching to HDMI, you might want to consider going back to them - just an opinion.

SOURCE: No HDMI input socket on Toshiba 'HD Ready' TV

There is an easy way to adapt the cable.

Any good computer shop will have the adaptor.

Take the HDMI cable to them, and tell them you want an adaptor to go to composite signal.

(I know that they're made, many of the graphics cards I use to build computers come with that cable adaptor)

You also might try Best Buy or Radio Shack, but you might not have much luck with them.

SOURCE: "Unusable Signal"

Ok. PCB means Printed Circuit Board.
It looks similar to the picture down below. A part must have gone bad on your PC board. So, the RCA shop ordered a replacement PC board to fix the problem. It's an interchangeable part. All newer TV now have PC boards, which each one hold a different function.ebc3c7f.jpg

WHY CANT I GET HD CHANNELS ON MY ELEMENT ELECTRONICS 32 IN HD TV

To get HD channels you need to have a cable/satellite box that can receive HD channels AND you have to connect that box to the TV with either an HDMI cable or component jacks. A normal cable/satellite box won't work; neither will a coax antenna cable or consolidated video (yellow RCA) plug. Hope this helps!

Digital channels are not working

If your TV is connected to a "cable" box, e.g. you're using cable TV ... then it is the cable TV box that determines what you can get (based on your cable subscription). Yes, I know that some cable TV and satellite TV service providers will only deliver HD digital channels when you pay an additional (monthly) fee for HD digital channels.
If you plug the cable directly into your TV (i.e. not use the cable box), you may be able to do a channel scan on your TV, to pick up the digital channels ... but you will loose the convenience of using the features that your cable box provides .

My rca hd tv will not pull in hd

Its either the set or the signal, one or the other---since its a smaller set have you considered moving set to a friends house and trying there.

If using a box for HD it is possible as well.

Let me know what you have tried or not.

Not able to connect my cable reciver to my rca L32HD31R

  1. Connect the RCA Output on you Cable Receiver to the RCA Input on your RCA TV, taking note of which Input you plugged into, e.x. DVD, GAME, etc.
  2. Turn on your Cable Receiver, and your TV.
  3. On your RCA TV, change the Input to the Input you plugged your Cable Receiver into.
  4. You should now be able to change channels using your cable box, and view it on your TV.

I have timewarner basic cable and would like to view the hd channels such as 5.1 or 5-1. how to I get there, the remote has no . or -?

go to the options with the remote on your tv, then do a channel scan. it will scan for any channels you are picking up. if you have basic cable you will only have a few HD channels. if you have a cable box then the cable box should show you what channels are HD

When you are using a FullHD upscaling model. I still have to a HD setbox

the set top box is required by your cable company.

if you plug cable directly into the TV and run an auto program from the TV menu it will find most channels. BUT it will not locate them correctly.

for instance I have comcast. Channel 58 is FX but WITHOUT a cable box it shows up as the following on my HDtv's

sharp 52" shows up as channel 83.10
RCA 27" shows up as 86.6
RCA 32" shows up as 89.3

its a pain in the ****. We rent 2hd boxes from comcast at 7.99 a month and I refuse to pay them any more per month.

Contrary to what most cable providers say you WILL pick up most channels and in fact you will pick up some HD channels without the box but you have to look for them and they won't be on the same channel on every TV.

Lastly cable companies also remodulaet their signals every once and a while so there will come a time when you will have to do the whole setup, autoprogram (ch scan) again and yes the channels will once again move to another channel.

cable sucks Comcast REALLY sucks

Is tv an HD tv

Yes, mostly all new displays are at least 720p which display a great picture ! However, coax cable is the worst possible cable you can use. Your best bet for HD from the cable box is to use component cable. These are the 3 RCA type colored cables, red, green and blue. You will also need another two RCA cables for the audio, which is usually red/black or red/white. If you have a surround sound receiver, then you will not need the 2 for audio to the TV. These 2 would goto the receiver or you can use a better digital coax or optical cable for audio.
Also, HDMI from the cable box to display is a more expensive cable which will give you HD but doesn't always look better then component on some HD cable boxes.

Dark picture on RCA Scenium 61 in DLP

Yes, the lamp will gradually get darker as it nears it's end. The rolling lines sounds more like the set is on a local channel for the cable hook up. If your local area has a channel 3 or 4 live terestrial broadcast simply tune the cable box output to the other one, the same for the tv.
If this is cable/local broadcast issue it will go away in Febuary when the NTSC broadcast ends.

Get closed captions on some channels, but not all, even though it is CC

RCA have choices for different methods of CC in user CC menu. Labelled T1, T2, etc. . Different selections are for different types of close caption. Tune to a signal (on your other TV) that has closed caption working.

Tune your RCA to the same signal. Change the T1,T2, etc settings until the closed caption for your signal appears.

If this doesn't work, try connecting analog video or VHF channel 3 (or other specified channel) to the TV. check CC. When TV stations, sat channels, sat receivers, cable boxes etc, convert analog video signals to HD, problems can result. Some equipment causes RCA TVs to do unexpected things with sound and closed caption.

If you use RF or video output, old analog video may look better on CH3 or video than on HD input and the CC will work more consistently. Watch HD signals on HD input, Analog signals on Video in or through the TV tuner . Many HD channels and programs are converted analog video and look poor on TV HD inputs.
