LG LRFD25850 French Door Refrigerator Logo
Posted on Mar 05, 2009

Bought the LG refrigerator that uses twice the energy stated.

Along with the LG "energy star" rated French Door refrigerator, I purchased the front load LG "energy star" rated washer and dryer, the LG "energy star" rated dishwasher and the LG microwave. My concern is, if they got away with lying about the energy consumption rating, what might they be covering up regarding overall quality of all the other appliances listed above. I also see that there may be a class action lawsuit against their front load washer and dryer. My check that was sent with the letter by LG amounted to $15. Seems there is some discrepancy in the monitary value of the checks from what I have read of other complaints.

Bought the 'energy star' French Door LG from Home Depot. Got a letter from LG with a check 'for past energy usage'', stating they will come out and make modifications to frig to make it more energy efficient, and will provide annual cash payment from 14 yrs out from date of purchase to cover the energy cost difference between the sticker 'energy usage' and the 'modification usage'. The check is to be cashed by March 17, 2009 and states 'ACCEPTED AS FULL AND FINAL SETTLEMENT OF ALL CLAIMS'. Don't know as we will cash the check.Digusted in TN.

I need energy star rating for kenmore refrigerator #795.71309.012

The 795.71309.012 was built by LG for the Kenmore line. You can buy a copy of the Energy Star Rating label from Sears Parts Direct or other appliance parts store for a few dollars. It is part number MEZ62603802; see http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/part-number/Kenmore-Parts/Refrigerator-Parts/MEZ62603802/0046/795/Model-79571309012/0582/0161000?keySuffixId=NA&pathTaken=partSearch&pathRender=modelComponent&documentCompId=F1201020&diagramPageId=00004&productTypeId=x&searchModelNumber=79571309012&subCompDesc=Refrigerator%20parts%20%28pantry%29&brandDesc=KENMORE&modelDesc=REFRIGERATOR&blt=11&shdMod= .

Unfortunately the 795.71309.012 is not listed at the EPA Energy Star site any more. (It's no longer qualified due to changes in the energy efficiency requirements.)

I wish that I could be of more assistance.

Control panel stuck. not able to change any

Unplug the refrigerator from the power socket for 30 seconds. When you plug it back in the control panel should reset showing all 8s for several seconds and then return to normal settings. If that does not solve the problem then the controller board probably needs to be replaced. As part of the settlement with Energy Star, LG is supposed to be replacing controller boards for free so your problem could be solved by that if you qualify. See http://www.energy.gov/news/6743.htm. Use phone number to contact LG as the web site did not work three times when I tried to register through it.

Class Action Lawsuit against LG

My check for $ 16,- also said "Accepted as Full and Final Satisfaction of All Claims" despite LGs promise to make payments every year for the additional energy use. They never informed me that my fridge does not meet the "Energy Star" requirements. I won't cash this check and will wait for a class action law suit. I bought an appliance because I believed that I was doing something for the environment and then its like "sorry, you bought an environmentally unfriendly product and that you are destroying our environment but we will pay you $ 16,- to relieve your bad consciousness"
