I have a Fuji FinePix S5000 and the battery door catches (on the body of the camera) have broken off. Replace complete body assy??? I am sure mine is not the only one. any help appreciated.

I had this problem also (see below).


After getting poor results with the duct tape solution, I discovered another work-around. This should work whether it is chipped lugs on the door or on the body.

Firstly I used an old camera flash bracket that screws into the tripod socket, and this holds the battery door in place quite securely. However it was too long, so I cut and filed a piece of aluminium 25mm (1") wide by 2.5mm thick to the right length (around 100mm/4") and shape, and made a hole for the bracket screw.

End result is not exactly like new, but more functional than the duct tape and does not further damage the actual cameraI have a Fuji FinePix S5000 and the battery door - 8dbdb3d.png src="/uploads/images/8dbdb3d.png" alt="8dbdb3d.png" class="h_mi" />

Thanks for the help on this page, specially the aluminum bar solution worked perfect. Except: my wife did not approve of the looks.
I bought a used (broken) S5000 from eBay and replaced the battery compartment:
Procedure:
1) Remove batteries
2) Remove memory card
3) Remove the 5 visible screws:
2 at bottom near serial number
2 near strap
1 near memory card door
4) Gently remove back part of the camera from the main body.
There are some plastic tabs below the +/- button
5) Wiggle the whole back from the camera body
6) unclip (flip the little brown flap up) connector CN205 and slide the cable out
7) remove the screw underneath that cable. It holds the battery compartment in place
8) Slide out the upper ribbon cable (connector CN204)
9) Slide out the battery compartment
10) unplug the battery power cable (one red and one white wire) from the camera

To reinstall use reverse procedure.
I tried it a few times on the broken camera first. It is not too bad, a bit of patience, a good light, reading glasses, small phillips screwdriver and tweezers will help a lot.

I double and tripled about 8 rubber bands around the door. It works fine .

You will have to explain a bit more.

Remove rear camera cover, 5 tiny screws.
Remove Battery Compartment and replace.

Tighten a narrow cable tie around the closed flap and camera top and slide back
at the top so it wont interfere with the zoom. this will be a bit loose so remove and do 2 or 3 more clicks on the ratchet then slide back on (over flap 1st) if still loose repeat. when tight enough cut off excess cable. the ratchet end is best positioned under flap

The cover/door is ok, but the small L shaped catches in the battery compartment are broken off and will not hold the door
