Epson 1400 Head cleaning (during printing)

I have a new Epson 1400 printer having swapped from an Epson 1290. If the 1290 jets blocked during a print run, it was easy to press the paper feed button for a few seconds to start a "mid print" cleaning cycle. I cannot find a similar facility on the 1400 - I have to stop the print run (clear or pause all other prints in the queue) and then go through the cleaning process.

Is there an easier way?

the sensors cant see paper on the perforated part/side.
same goes for transparencies, the printer can't see it

Hi.
Check for a paper jam inside the paper feeder... There's something blocking the path that is why the 3-beep is activated. Also put lubricant to the head's round-bar, gears and levers.

Hi kids! I decided to have another go at sorting out my 'lines' problem and have sorted it. See if this might work for you: I had previously done the head cleaning via the printer itself - holding the central ink/paper black button for 3 secs. This time I went to the Epson 1290 window on my Mac and clicked on the utility box. Though the Nozzle check print came out fine I went ahead and did the head cleaning in this box. The next print came out almost perfect so I ran the Head cleaning again and it printed a perfect print. Hope this might work for you. Keep on trying! All the best. Trant

Best solution is to clean the head with it in place,here's

Hi,

Try to clean the paper pick rollers with a cloth, dam it with little water and try to hange the paper settings by going into printer preferances.

Blocked print head nozzles
Inkjet printers need to be used frequently to prevent blocked print head nozzles. You may have blocked print head nozzles.
Try the printer maintenance to clear the printer nozzles.
After several deep cleaning attempts and there is no improvements in the print then a new print head is required.

Your problems states that photos are being blank when trying to print it.
Please try these tips.

Make sure your printer is selected in the Print window or in the Macintosh Page Setup and Print windows.
The print head nozzles may need cleaning.
Make sure your printer software settings are set for the paper size you're using.

Plus,i also wanted to know if you can print ordinary documents or print a test page.

Printer heads print head need serviced

Color printers do not like being unused for long periods, the print heads will become blocked.
If the color cartridges are full and you have done a deep clean print head several times, then the color print heads are most likely is blocked the print head needs to be replaced.
NOTE the cost of replacing printer head could be expensive, this could be an opportunity to upgrade to a new and better printer.

Black will not print, have tried cleaning head

The print head is probably blocked, its no good using the head cleaning option on the printer, you'll just waste ink.

There are several head cleaning solutions, fairly cheap on ebay.

The problem can be two fold. Wrong cartridges, or blocked/damaged inkjet openings. Return it to the seller under warranty if its brand new. If it was fitted with non epson cartridges your warranty may be in question.

Epson 1400 won't print blacks

Hi

Many problems regarding Ink with Epson relate to using cheap ink consumables. I recommend you buy original Epson black ink catridge. I know its more expensive but you should see the black ink clear.

Be sure to run head alignment and clean printer option first with the current black ink then replace with the new original Epson ink catridge

Epson 1290 prints a ghost image in cyan or magenta

I like this one! No don't have a solution but....interesting Try it's test not by computer, just printer, may need head alignment, should be a command for this on printer
