Maytag dishwasher will not drain at the end of cycle even after pushing the drain button
Drainage problem of some sort is usually the cause. Could be blockage before your drain pump, in your drain pump, or in your drain hose. One possibility is that you just installed a garbage disposal and forgot to remove the "knock-out" plug for the dishwasher drain line. Another cause can be that you have not looped your dishwasher drainline under your sink and water from your sink is flowing back into you dishwasher. You must attach your dishwasher drain line under your sink so it is higher then your sink drain lines, creating a trap for your dishwasher. Your drain sump could be plugged, not letting the water get to your drain pump easily. This is caused by not getting loose or hard debris off your dishes before putting them in the unit. Also make sure your drain pump is getting the right voltage when it is supposed to.God bless you

Not draining may either need new drain motor. or something is blocking the drain pipe.
Spots on dishes means you are using to much detergent or the wrong kind of detergent.
Your owners manuel should tell you what type to use.

depending on the age of this unit it may have food blocking what is called the "check valve".
on most models it is mounted right on the outlet of the pump housing. one model uses a 4 inch plastic tube style device and is about 1/2 inch on the pump and 1" on the hose. inside of it is where the food items can block the check valve. remove the hose and unscrew the check valve from the pump and see if something is blocking it.
on newer units the check valve is built into the drain hose, if you hose has a 90 degree elbow molded into it where the hose hooks up to the drain pump. once again take the hose off and look inside the hose or try to blow through the hose and see if the hose is clear.
good luck tom

sounds to me that you may have some suds residue in the dishwasher that keeps it from draining completely. Get you some dishwasher cleaner which you can purchase at wal-mart or wherever you buy your detergent, and clean out your dishwasher. It is a inexpensive test. Alot less expensive than having a tech come to your house. Make sure that your drain hose is mounted higher that where it goes into the drain. This is also a common problem that I encounter in the field. Hope this helps. Let me know if I can help you futher.

First check to see if anything has gotten into the sump drain inside the bottom of the dishwasher tub. Sometimes a piece of plastic wrap, or other small item can become lodged there, causing the DW to drain slowly.
If nothing there, check the air-gap device at the sink, as these can become clogged over time and that would also prevent proper draining. The air-gap is the round (usually silver chrome colored) cap mounted on the corner of the sink). Pull off the cap, it comes straight up with a little twist and polling motion. Clean out the screen filter and also look down the hose to see if there are any obstructions in the drain hose.
If that is OK, check the drain hose from the air-gap down to the connection at the sink drain, or if you have a disposal, where it is connected to the disposal. Sometimes small bits of stuff can get stuck in the hose at these various points and any build up over time, will make proper draining difficult.
You can also flush the drain lines with hot water to make sure the lines are clear. If none of this works, you could have something in the DW sump pump and that will require removing the DW from under the counter and checking the pump area for obstructions. Sometimes you can easily remove the flexible pump body and get at the drain valves. Just be sure to disconnect the power and turn off the water supply before removing the DW to attempt any repairs.
Hope you find this Very Helpful and best regards!
Hi
This issue usually occurs due
to kinked drain pipe, clogged drain filter or drain pump. First make sure that
the drain is not clogged and remove clogs if present. If no visible lint is
present then remove the lower front access panel to check the drain filter and
drain pump for any clogs, you'll need to clean the drain filter and drain pump
completely. Also, check for any food pieces stuck near the pump impeller &
clean the chopper assembly. Please note that dishwashers don't drain out the
complete water such that heating element doesn't overheat. Hope this helps...
Please post back for any further assistance.
