Advantium display reads "nite"

GE Model # SCA1001KSS (Noember 2008) After successfully reheating a small amount (4-5 ounces) of leftovers, our over-the-cooktop unit sudenly seemed to have lost all power - (no cooktop lights, no microwave function, etc) . . . . and the display just reads "NITE". Does this mean "Good Night" forever for my Advantium?

The first thing I would suggest is a hard reset. Unplug the unit for a minute or so. Then plug it back in, set the clock and try again.

If that doesn't work, leave it unplugged for about 5 minutes. Feel free to contact me directly (see below) if you have other questions.- William E. Miller, AS-EET

SOURCE: Nite light doe's not function anymore

We see (and repair) this a lot. The problem is on the control panel, which we regularly repair nationwide by mail for $39.95 postpaid in about a week.

At our Web site, you can get details of our service, plus we have a video available showing how to remove a typical over the range control panel assembly in under 5 minutes.

This light failure often occurs when a bulb goes out and the filament shorts, or when the bulbs are removed or installed without first unplugging the oven from the power line. Either can cause such a failure on the controller.

This can often also affect the exhaust fan operation, too. The lights and fan can be inoperable or stuck on too.

Feel free to contact me directly (and please remind me of your full model number) for more information & help.

We're happy to help you with free advice and we'd appreciate your thoughtful rating of our answer.

Our Advantium 120 oven (model # SCA1001KSS 02, Manufactured June 2008)is not working. Began w/ time not coming on when cooking and just a little green microwave light shows while cooking.

Typical of a control microchip failure caused by a power surge. With a microwave as old as yours, it is safest to simply replace the entire oven rather than attempt to fix it, as older magnetrons are likely to fail.

Reheating doesn't work

Hi There!
The magnetron may be faulty. When measured there should be no reading between one of the terminals and the outer case of the magnetron. Also check High Voltage Fuse( Normally a red wire with a white plastic capsule in the centre) and the High Voltage Diode(Situated between earth and High Voltage Cap). Be sure to unplug from Mains before working on the unit.Good Luck, JUS004

GE Profile Advantium Wall Oven 240 volts 950 Watts

How long does it run before it fails? Does it look like the display is getting scrambled characters? I'm leaning toward a bad magnetron, but it may be more or less than that. If you can give more details and especially the actual full model number (as opposed to the model name Advantium 120) that would help. Thanks!
