MP3 players can only play music that are in mp3 file format. You need to convert/rip music into mp3 file format and then copy them to your MP3 player. For details on converting music to mp2 format, please click on this link and follow my instructions :- http://www.fixya.com/support/r5798418-creating_transferring_mp3_music_files
hi have you istalled the correct software that came with it. if you have then it could be that the tracks you have put on it are in wrong format. you can change the format by using search engine and type in change format you need to change them to mp3 also delete whats on their and start again if you use something like limewire you can get tunes for free and after downloading them store them in file then you can drag and drop them onto your mp3
Hi, First of all formate your MP3 player through built-in format option of the player, remember dont try to format it through PC. then by using software provided with the MP3 copy songs of your choice and past in your player with the help of software, also don't copy and paste directly from PC to MP3. This will solve your problem. Thanks for using fixya.
The player doesn't accept removing of music, or formatting, when it is
not done from SonicStage, the software that sony offers with it. The software is to be downloaded here. When you've installed the
software, format the player from the menu (all your music will be removed, so you might want to copy it to your pc first). Then transfer your music with
this program.
I hade just that prob. "format error" used to display. I did this:
1. dwl sonicStage (free)
2.- in the walkman went to menu/initialize/format
then displayed a confirmation screen, I confirmed
it displayed "formating...... COMPLETE"
3.- THEN plugged into the PC and transfered songs with Sonic
and it worked!
Have you authorized the player? if not, or youre not sure, go here: http://www.docs.sony.com/release/Authorizing_flyer.pdf
Theres also this documentation which notes your "no data" symptom - http://www.docs.sony.com/release/NWE405-407rev_note.pdf
You will get a "no data" if you tried to format the player through windows explorer instead of through the player, and formatting it again, this time throught the menu in the player should fix this.
Also there appears to be a transfer limit on the sonic stage software. something around 65,000, but who knows, maybe you managed to get there...
Good luck
