Kenwood KX-55W
These dual cassette deck are rarely worth he effort to put repair time into. I checked Hi Fi Engine and they did not have anything. Is it worth a $100 repair bill? if not then look for a good solid single deck.
Thank you for answering my request. I like my stereo a lot so really don 't want to change it as I use the double alot. Thanks
OK, with that persistance, what is wrong with your unit that you need a schematic? I have gone looking but did not find one in the usual places. If you can tell me what is wrong with it I can maybe direct you in what to do. I have fixed tape decks for better than 40 years.
The number one tape deck has a piece missing. It's in the player ,when you place tape into player( which is tape end down.) There are 2 parts that come in contact with tape to make it play. If your looking down at it from the front it would be the piece on the left. I know I'm not explaining this very well and I hope you can understand what I mean.

SOURCE: Left Deck Door Stuck Shut on Cassette Deck
The cassette mechanism has a large gear that rotates to different
positions for the different modes. On time around is a play -
stop cycle. It is stuck in one position and won't come around to
the stop spot. Need to take the cover off and help it to turn to
get the cassette out. Then figure out if something is wrong
preventing it from turning or if the wheel driving it is the
problem. They are all a little different so this is where your
mechanical apptitude comes in.
By the way, you'll figure out right away they don't intend these things to be fixed.
Hope Ya Fix It.
SOURCE: Replacing a belt on the Kenwood KX 1030 Tape Deck
Hi Jeff
You do have to take the front fascia off the unit to get access to the mechanism mounting screws, to then get the mecha into a position that you can remove the capstan flywheel plate etc to replace the belts and clean drive surfaces. You can get an entire replacement belt kit from here
These decks are well worth repair if you have an interest in cassette decks. Good luck, and thanks for using FixYa. If you need more advice , feel free to ask me :)

Graeme
SOURCE: Technics RS-TR272 dual cassette deck
Ahh, Another Dual cassette deck. These are typically not worth a repair charge. I went looking for a service manual but Hi Fi Engine did not have one but they had a Owners Manual. Any unit that has a specification as to wow and flutter starting new at .18% was never made to be a long lasting deck of any quality. I don't like to be negative about people equipment but you might be better off getting a better deck from the start. If you think it is worth the repair, then send it to someone but I don't think you will want to sink $100 into a unit like this.
I am not saying it is unrepairable but that with what you come out in the end you could have made a better choice for a deck to buy.
It is probably a bad solder joint or bad capacitor on the circuit board.
I am in Chicago and would look at it for you if you want.
