This should be the kit you need. Just verify your power supply board is the FSP043-2PI01

SOURCE: Samsung syncmaster 215tw monitor flickering

The capacitors BigTech referred to are C110 & C111, 820uf-25V Electrolytic, on the power supply board.

With minor soldering skills, you can replace them with Radio Shack in-store capacitors, Stock # 272-1032, 1000uf-50V Radial Lead Electrolytics for $1.59 each. Works great!

Four bucks and little bit of time saves the monitor.

SOURCE: I have a Samsung Syncmaster 932b LCD monitor.

savato321, Most black screen lcd monitor owners don't have the smarts to open up their monitors to do a VISUAL inspection of the "switch-mode-power-supply/inverter supply!!!! You're good. Now you will need to know some stuff about electrolytic filter capacitors! First, the "uf" or "UF" means micro-farad! It is just a rating given to express the storage capacity of the device. Next is the voltage rating. A 16v rating means that the capacitor should never be placed in a circuit where the voltage will exceed 10 to 12 volts DC. Your 820 uf cap rated at 25volts will most likely be in a 12 to 18volt dc circuit. Now for temperature rating. All caps have a maximum temp rating. Most clock radios, stereos, will use 85 degree centegrade rated caps. Printers,PCs,monitors, will use 105 degree C rated capacitors. Never replace with lower specification units! You can GO up but never DOWN. If 1000uf 25v is all you can get it's OK. If you can get 820uf 35v units and they are not too big and they will fit on the board sure you can use them. I would stick with the OEM design voltage rating. Electrolytic CAPS are polarized!! You must replace them + to + and - to -!!! If you screw -up they will blow-up!! The wire lead closest to the printed STRIPE on the cap will be the negative and the unmarked terminal will be the positive. If you visit www.ccl-la.com/badcaps.htm you will get more info on recapping your SMPS. You can also watch some DIY videos at YOUTUBE for "lcd monitor repair" that might be helpful. Also visually inspect the SMPS/inverter printed circuit board for "COLD" FROSTY looking solder joints. They should all have near mirror finish to them. Let us know the name of the BAD CAPS you remove from your unit. You may even want to document with pics with a digital camera what you find. Well, good luck guy. 12fixlouie

SOURCE: How to open (remove back) Omnitech Vw19B LCD Monitor

You are right about the problem on the flourescent, but the issue is caused by the mosfet transistors. You need to use a flat screwdriver to pry the back of the display until you get this open. Start from the bottom side because some damage will be left on the plastic.

Acer AL1711 17" LCD Monitor showing white screen

Hello,

A white screen indicates the power supply board is not putting out the correct voltages to properly power the monitor, just the back light. This type of issue is caused by a failure of the filter capacitors on the power board. You can rebuild your power supply board and bring the monitor back to life by just replacing the the bad capacitors. The problem is that model the Acer AL1711 could come with 1 of 4 different power supply boards install depending and the date manufacturer and supply on hand. If you want to repair the monitor if you could open the unit and get either the model number of the power supply board or send a picture of the board to me I will be glad to help you repair the unit and get it back up and running. You can contact me to send the information at [email protected]

White screen no picture

Hello,

That type of issue is usually caused by a failure of the power supply board but it is easy to repair. There are parts called capacitors that overheat on short out. Here is a link to a page showing what capacitors are and how to tell if they have failed.
http://www.ccl-la.com/blog/index.php/capacitors/
When they die the power supply can't put out the correct voltages to run the monitor so you get the back lights but no display. The model uses the IPLI-107 power supply board.
Here is a link to a kit with the correct capacitors to repair that board.

Acer x193 monitor went into standby overnight. I have it set not to do this. Now, it has a hissing noise when turned on and it flickers and is dimmer, regardless of the settings.

Hello,

It's actually not in standby, the power supply on the unit has failed. This is a common issue with those monitors. The first thing to check is to see if it's still under warranty. Acer monitors have a 3 year parts & labor warranty from date of purchase. If you can't find your receipt check the label on the back of the unit for mfg date. If it's within 3 years then contact Acer corp. If your monitor is out of warranty then you can open it up to do the repairs. The usual problem with them is the capacitors on the power supply board overheat and bulge causing them to prematurely fail. You can replace the capacitors and the monitor will be just like new but with better parts in the power supply. That model normally uses the Darfon B092-*** 27-D021635 power supply board which is the same board that's in the Viewsonic VX1962 monitor. Here is a link to a repair guide that will show you what goes out and how to replace the parts to get it back running again.

Samsung LN406 1F 40inch 1080p lcd tv wont turn on, clicking etc, sometimes comes on fine after 15 min of clicking, now turns on after clicking but only sound no picture. Can I fix capacitors and power...

Plasma and LCD TV sets are prone to having capacitors in the power supply section fail. This is the most likely cause for the probem you describe. When capacitors fail your will commonly see one or more of the following symptoms.
  • No video, Power light is on or blinking.
  • TV is making a clicking noise.
  • TV takes a while to come on
  • Screen is very dim or flickers.

Again, You can get a power supply repair kit with the parts, detailed instructions, and support from sites such as www.TvRepairKits.com . Or just click here to see more details on their kit.

Here are pictures of capacitors...Notice that the ones below look bloated. They have failed and will need to be repalced.

The monitor powers up then shuts off then a second later it starts up again and keeps repeating

More likely to have dying power supply due to bad caps just like the rest of failed ACER monitors as shown in my albums here:

Please read my guide and read about bad caps.

Acer monitor flickers when i turn it on why?

It can be the unstable DC due to bad DC filter caps in the power supply, that will be the first place to look.
Please read my guide and look at failed monitors in my albums to get some understanding before DIY repair.

I can see it faintly flickering but it doesn't come on

It may have bad caps in the power supply, bad lamp assemblies, etc. You need to do visual inspections and voltage checking.
http://s807.photobucket.com/albums/yy352/budm/Acer%20AL2216W/

If you are going to DIY and have proper tools and know safety precaution then please read on:
Most common failures in the LCD monitors are bad capacitors (bulging top/seal or leaking) in the power supply (they should be replaced in a set), blown fuses; poor solder joints, failed inverter circuits (blown fuse, shorted transistors, shorted/open transformers), bad lamps (poor solder connections or worn out lamps). You will need to open it up and inspect the inside, see example of failed ACER monitors to get some ideas what to look for: http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/allalbums
Post back what you see inside so we can guide you further and it will help out other people in the future also.

ACER AL1706 powering up, green power light flashes once a second, faint 'flicker' on screen, eventually starts up with the Acer logo, and runs normally.

You may have dying power supply due to bad DC filter caps.
Please see failed ACER and other monitors to see if you will want to DIY repair.
