Stove is tripping circuit breaker Two burners stopped working properly (only get slightly warm). Switched the coils to the other side and the other side is still working. Looked underneath and saw that two of the circuit breaker buttons popped out, pushed them back in to reset and the burners worked but the fan went on, even though the fan was switched to "off". When I pressed the button to turn on the fan (while the fan was running) there was a bang and a spark and the circuit breaker button popped back out.

If it is an old stove i would say have it serviced/checked over. if it is a newer stove i am guessing the circuit breaker predates it and is rated for the old stove therefore you will need to have a larger circuit breaker installed (by a licenced electrician)

Maytag MER5552BAW stopped working while cooking last night. Was using the cooktop and the oven and all seemed to turn off at once. May have had water spill into on of the burners.

Go to your electrical panel and check the circuit breakers. If one is tripped it will be in a halfway position. switch off then on. If it keeps tripping you may have to call a repair man.

Had power go off now er flashing on all burners can not reset

It's possible that you had a surge when the power returned that scrambled the controller's brain. Try disconnecting power and reconnecting to restore normal operation. Disconnect power by unplugging the stove from the wall or switching off the breaker that controls it at your main circuit breaker box. Wait a minute or two, then plug the stove back in or turn the circuit breaker back on. If the stove does not work after this, you may need a new controller board.

Ge_jgs750sefss stopped working

I had a stove that wouldn't work after the breaker switched off even after resetting the breaker. I had to unplug the stove and then plug it back in to get it to work again. I'm not sure if this will help our not but it's worth a try.

Fan stopped working on Jennifer air downdraft electric cooktop. Elements still work fine. Circuit breaker did not trip. Took switch out of line by directly connecting fan leads. Still did not work when...

Generally there is a plug for the fan motor under the range, the panel where the drawer would be should lift off, you will then see the power to the fan motor. The fan motor is only 120Volts not 220V

always unplug electricity before attempting to repair on any electrical appliance

Maytag electric cooktop popping breaker.

The problem is most likely in the element in one of the coils, if they are the tube type and look like pencil thick heating elements, they can develope a short circuit inside them. The actual heating wire is encased with ceramic filler and then put in that tube. The heating wire moves when it gets hot and can work its way to the case and cause a short. Unhook the power from the whole unit and use the meter to check the rersistance of the coils between the heating element and the case

GE Profile mod. PP975bM3BB all lights work Burner will not heat

You have lost half of the circuit in the breaker, the lights work on one side of it but the burners need both sides of a 220 volt circuit. I would have the breaker tested first, and if it is good, look for a fuse, relay, breaker in the back of the stove. Hope this helps.

I have a 4 burner Jenn-Air JED8430ADB electric radiant heat stove that has recently stopped working. It has been installed for many years (came with the house) and worked fine until now. When I turn one...

The cook top is connected to 220 volts. In the house wiring there are two legs each 115 volts. Usually they connect with a red wire, black wire and the third a neutral. It is likely that at the connection to the unit or at the electrical box a connection has failed or the 220 volt circuit breaker has failed on one leg. A qualified electrician needs to do the repair!

Whirlpool Flat cooktop burner not heating up

Try cleaning the knobs. I did the same thing you did (turning the circuit breaker off but that did not solve the problem.

My wife just tried turning the knobs and that seemed to work. It appears that one of the knobs may have been so sticky that the though it's in the OFF position it thinks it's still ON.
