My m2000 battery is not working - HP Compaq Presario V2000 Notebook

1) The AC adapter should ALWAYS be plugged into the laptop FIRST, then plugged into AC power. If not, this could create a voltage spike.

2) Let's look at the DC Power Jack, for the Compaq Presario M2000 series of Notebook PC's,

The DC Power Jack is mounted to a removable circuit board.
Enlarging the view of the jack, shows us there is an Inductor.

The small 'can' standing up on the power board. This chipset could have gone south. (Bad)

How to know? Replace it, or dig out your dual trace oscilloscope. See if the Inductor works.

Could also just be cracked solder joints, of the DC Power Jack, TO that small circuit board. Solution would be to resolder it/them.

DC Power Jack is in good shape, soldered tight to the motherboard, and ruled out as the problem?
(Since you know the AC adapter is good)

Then the problem would be the Inductor on that power board, or power correcting chipset.

What one is it? Dunno.
DO KNOW is has J leads on the bottom.
CAN give examples, and perhaps you can identify using them.

Because the new battery isn't fit your laptop, just find the Compaq Presario M2000 battery replacement.

the issue might be with the power jack . i mean the port where you insert the charger.. to fix this issue your laptop needs to be repaired.

Sounds like a defective battery or power adapter.

Make sure you have an original adapter. Some of the REPLACEMENT adapters do not work very well with these computers.

ALSO make sure you have the right replacement battery. For instance in the {ressario 3000 series, there are two different batteries and one will work with some machines, but the higher level machine requires a bigger battery, although it is in an identical case.

how about the battery of the laptop, have you aleady check it? if you can find a working identical laptop like the one that try using the battery and see what happens if it will work or not, if it work then you have a battery problem and needs replacement

check your memory card(s) you may have a bad on or two, and if that doesn't work then sounds like the mother board has become defective and needs replacing, but the ram Memory would be the cheeper fix first.

The best sollution is to call your vendor for sollution, everything you can do to solve would void youe waranty
