Turn off printer. Reseat all the toner cartridges. Power on printer .. If still a problem turn off and remove all cartiridges and use vacume to remove any excess toner. Use canned air to clean any sensors. Turn the yellow carts gears and see if you have any binds. replace all carts and power on.Problem should be solved. If not, try a different yellow cart.

NOT PRINTING IN COLOR

Normal 0 Could have a corrupt driver.
Disconnect the printer or at least be sure it is turned off. I'd do both and when the CD software program asks you to connect the printer to the USB port, do so and it should again work properly.
Hope this helps. Bud

Xerox Phaser 8550DP Printer does not recognize the ink it has

  1. Open and close the Top Cover to resolve the problem.
  2. If the problem persists, arrange the ink sticks until there are no spaces between sticks of the same color.
  3. Check for non 8500/8550 ink sticks jammed in the ink load chutes.

Printer won't recognize ink cartridge

I had the same problem with the yellow cartridge.   At first when I resinserted it, it would solve the problem, but today even that didn't work.

I did solve the problem by clearing all print jobs, turning the printer off and then on, and then running a cleaning cycle on the color nozzles.   I don't know why this fixed things, but my yellow was suddenly recognized without any further fiddling.
