The defrost drain is stoppped up. The easiest way to solve this is with a compressed air tank. At the back of the ref. at the bottom you will see a hose leading into a drain pan.Blow the air through the hose and it will unstop the drain.Hope this helps !
I did it without spending a dime! I found a REAL site that directed me to the problem and sure enough that was it. Nice SCAM you got going here. I'm unsubscribed from you, and any further scams you may try to bait me on!
Most likely whats happening is you have a frozen drain for the defrost cycle. here are step by step instrutions for repair:
Unplug refrigerator
unload food from freezer
remove icemaker if present (there are 3 screws remove the one on the bottom and loosen the 2 on top of icemaker then lift it off the 2 screws unplug from wiring harness)
remove 2 screws holding rear cover in place
move cover to the side or remove from unit altogether
defrost any and all ice from bottom of freezer and aluminum drain pan that is now exposed
flush drain hole that you will see once ice is cleared with warm water. (sometimes I use a large syringe or turkey baster to forcefully flush hot water thru the drain tube)
reassemble in reverse order
These are general instrutions for most top freezer refrigs. but if you need more specific directions dont hesitate to ask Thanks Peyton
Your defrost drain hole is frozen closed.
Remove the back freezer panel and defrost the ice with a hair dryer.
Once the drain is clear poura 1/4 cup bleach in the drain hole.
I believe the problem is with the drain line when the frig goes into defrost mode
see if you can trace the drain line that oes into the evaporator pan at the bottom of the frig
facing the frig remove the bottom panel that goes across the front and pull out the evaporator tray to see if it is dry
take a flashlight and see if you can see a plastic tube that the water should be dripping into the pan
try to trace the tube up into the frig ther is some type of catch basin inside the frig on the back panel usually around middle area
If you are not able to find it you can call whrlpol customer service 1-800-253-1301 or call an appliance service enter and as them f they can walk you through the problem
you are right about the cause of water in the fridge - blockage in the drain. i'v never met this caused by ice but it is possible.
with the freezer, the cause of the fault is the fan not working - probably jammed with ice. take back panel off inside freezer and check for ice build up. if loads of ice thgen defrost system has failed. you can do a temporary repair by melting the ice off with a hairdryer
The drain line that comes through the casing may be plugged or the trap at the bottom of the hose where it drains into the drain pan under the refrigerator may be plugged. If water is freezing it is because it is being held back by a restriction.
open the freezer compartment loo for ice build up on floor of frezer especally towards rear behind back panel. sounds like you have a clogged/frozen defrost drain tube. removing back panel of freezer will give you acess to drain trough, melt away the ice with a hair dryer, youll find a drain hole under there somwhere, pouring boiling water down the drain will clear it pretty quickly( i use a steam machine purchased from the infomercials)
water dripping from freezer into refrig
i have same problem
