Problems installing new 4389177 part. New part requires water lines inserted into valves, vice old compression connections. Water line pops out when water is turned on. Water line is cut clean and square. How can I get water line to stay in place and not pop out. Most importantly, how can I guarantee these won't pop out accidentally and flood my house?

    I'm answering my own question. As a result of researching installation of this part I found discussion about how to remove the water lines from this part. That procedure said to push in the collar holding the water line to remove it.



    The ah-ha moment came when I realized I was removing those collars before installation, assuming they exisited to protect inlet port between shipping and installation. No where in the installation procedure does it tell me to remove those collars. My bust. Those collars are what holds the water lines in place.



    It's common for new valves and connections to come with protective caps. These collars are not protective caps, they are the component that make water line installation possible.

    Solution: Part installation completely different than original part. This valve installs similar to PEX tubing. What I thought was a protective cap was a clamping device to hold the water tubing into the valve assy. I restalled the cap-like clamps, inserted the tubing, ensured a tight grip of the tubing by clamping device, and problem solved. Water line held tightly and does not leak. Little nervous because it seems too simple and concerned about risk of leaking. Almost one year since install, and all is well. No doubt, there was clown music playing at my first attempt to install this part.

You should push water line in valve firmly until you feel it snap into place. You should not be able to pull it out once it's inserted correctly without pressing the little button around water line opening.

SOURCE: ice maker line

The plastic water line uses a little brass sleeve that insurts on the inside of the plastic pipe. This allows the compression ring to press down and pinch the plastic to the sleeve. make sure you get the plastic pipe pushed in as far as it will go @ 1/4 inch. pemember your working with plastic do not over tighten it will cut the plastic.

SOURCE: Plastic hose connection to water valve is leaking.

The fitting is called a John Guest fitting. It has a couple of o-ring seals inside. Once the tube is pushed into one end it is locked in. To remove, push in on the tube (opposite of what you would think to remove) then hold down on the ring around the tube, then pull out. There is a good description on this website below

SOURCE: I bought a new water selinoid Valve, hucked it up

The problem may not be the value , look under the front of the fridge remove long cover on bottom, you should see the water line that goes into the freezer door and a connector. Disconnect the water line, should be a quick connect and have a cup ready to check the water line and value, place water line from under fridge into the cup and press the switch on freezer door asking for water if water comes out of the water line then the value is opening and you have a frozen line in the door. The drain in the freezer behind back lower panel
needs opening. You can see it at the bottom of the back panel
underneath the evaporator coils. (The cold coils)
Run Hot water in the drain until it clears or use a hairdryer.
When the defrost melts the water it goes down the drain
If the drain is clogged with Ice or ? The defrost water
overflows into the ref. or freezer
Run Hot water in the drain until it clears or use a hairdryer.
Also check fan undernearh Ref in the rear
Clean condenser coils underneath

Step 2. Turn off the water supply to the dishwasher. This is usually underneath the kitchen sink or in the basement or crawlspace near the location of the dishwasher. Pliers may be helpful here.

Note: If there are no shut-off valves, you must shut the water off at the main water supply valve for your home.

Step 3. Remove the lower panel(s) of the dishwasher. These are usually held by 2 to 4 screws at the upper and lower corners of the panel(s).

The inlet valve is usually near the front of the dishwasher. Attached to the valve you'll see: 2 or 4 wires, the water supply line from the house and the water feed line that goes to the dishwasher.

Step 4. Remove the household water supply line from the valve. The line is usually secured with a brass compression nut. The water supply line is usually copper or braided stainless steel.

CAUTION: Water supply line may be hot.

Step 5. Remove the fitting from the valve the water supply line was attached to. This fitting may be very difficult to remove. It may help to put the valve into a vice in order to remove the fitting. If you cannot remove it, replace it. The fitting is not an appliance part but a plumbing part that is available at most hardware stores.

Step 6. Remove the screws holding the valve to the dishwasher frame.

Step 7. Label the wires to the valve so you'll be sure to reattach them correctly.

Step 8. Remove the wires from the valve.

Step 9. Remove the clamp on the black rubber water discharge tube and pull the tube off of the valve.

Step 10. Reinstall the old fitting (or a replacement fitting if necessary) onto the new valve the water supply line was attached to. Use Teflon tape or pipe joint compound as a thread sealant. Make this fitting tight to prevent leaks. Make sure that the fitting points in the same direction as the old one so that the water supply line will meet up with it properly.

Step 11. Install the new valve in the reverse order of the removal instructions.

Note: The water supply line is under high pressure. Be sure to tighten the fittings properly.

Step 12. Turn on the water to the machine, and check for and correct any leaks.

Step 13. Reinstall the access panel(s). Restore the power to the dishwasher and test.

Note: You may have to let the dishwasher run a few minutes before it reaches the next water fill cycle.

How to replace an icemaker hose

Turn water off from the supply. There should be a valve that the 1/4" water line connects to, if not you will have to shut off the water main. Using a wrench remove the nut from the water line connection (usually a compression fitting. You will need a need compression sleeve with the new line x2, one for the valve and one for the fridge. Next disconnect the line from the back of the fridge. Run the new line the same way the old one was run, for easiness. Make sure you leave enough slack behind the refridgerator to allow it to be pulled out and cleaned behind. Once all connections are tight you can turn the water back on and ensure you don't have any leaks. Hope this helps.

Have an LG american type fridge freezer and need to change the water filter for the first time and don't know how to

Good day,
Grasp the filter firmly and turn it counter-clockwise until it releases.
Some water will spill so hold a small bowl under it.
Install the new one in reverse order. Pushed up turn clockwise until it seats.
It will take a while to purge the air out of the system, so be patient.

I have Model KSRB25FRBX01 the water will not stop dripping. I had to shut the water off. How can I fix this problem?

You need to replace the water inlet valve , pt # 4389177 . This is the part , the wall water line connects to , on the refrig . The valve , is not closing completely , thereby , letting a drip come thru constantly .

Does it feel free to turn? It's water powered and works in conjunction with the water pump. Do you hear the water/booster pump come on?

Clarify application of straight ball valve 1/4 turn

The ballvalve is normally a compression type fitting and so would not normally require soldering, however you could use a threaded adaptor soldered to the copper supply line and then thread a 1/2" ball valve to that then reduce down to the correct thread to meet the tails from your new tap. Or alternativeley you can insert the valve in the supply line, and extend the pipe to nearer the sink to enable easier connection of the tap.

Replacing water "distribution" module in Artica side by side refrigerator

You should be able to look at your new valve to see openings for water lines. There should be little rings around each opening. Press down on these on your old valve to release water lines. Some older valve have threaded openings that just screw off. If that's the case, your new valve probably doesn't have the threads. Just push the plastic nut up the line and insert water line in new valve firmly until you feel it snap into place. Your water source line from wall will probably still screw onto valve.

The ice maker is not producing ice or not enough ice

 Refrigerator connected to a water supply and the supply
shutoff valve turned on?
Connect refrigerator to water
supply and turn water shutoff valve fully open.
 Kink in the water source line? A kink in the line can reduce
water flow. Straighten the water source line.
 Ice maker turned on? Make sure wire shutoff arm or switch
(depending on model) is in the ON position.
 New installation? Wait 24 hours after ice maker installation
for ice production to begin. Wait 72 hours for full ice
production.
 Large amount of ice recently removed? Allow 24 hours for
ice maker to produce more ice.
 Ice cube jammed in the ice maker ejector arm?
Remove ice from the ejector arm with a plastic utensil.
 Reverse osmosis water filtration system connected to
your cold water supply?
This can decrease water pressure

OR
The water dispenser will not operate properly

 Freezer door closed completely? Close the door firmly. If it
does not close completely, see “The doors will not close
completely.”
 Refrigerator connected to a water supply and the supply
shutoff valve turned on?
Connect refrigerator to water
supply and turn water shutoff valve fully open.
 Is the water pressure at least 30 psi? The water pressure to
the home determines the flow from the dispenser. See “Water
Supply Requirements.”
 Kink in the home water source line? Straighten the water
source line.
 New installation? Flush and fill the water system.
 Water filter installed on the refrigerator? The filter may be
clogged or incorrectly installed.
 Is a reverse osmosis water filtration system connected to
your cold water supply?
